
Princeton Blanks Wake Forest 4-0 at Conference Crossover

PHILADELPHIA, PENN. - The 10th ranked Princeton Tigers (1-1) shutout No. 14 Wake Forest field hockey (1-3) 4-0 on Sunday at the Conference Crossover hosted by Penn.
Princeton posted its first two goals at the end of the first period, taking a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute and barely beating the clock scoring its second goal off a penalty corner at the 35th minute mark.
The Tigers continued to maintain control of the match, as the offense found the back of the net two more times in the second frame. The defense held off the Deacons and allowed Wake Forest to get just one shot on goal that could not get past keeper Grace Baylis.
Senior Jule Grashoff led the efforts for the Deacons with four shots, and the lone shot on goal. Anne van Hoof added Wake Forest's fifth shot. Goalkeeper Cat O'Connor had a busy day in the net accumulating a career-high 10 saves, but with four goals allowed, Princeton was able to pick up its first win of the season.
The Deacons will continue play on the road as the team makes the trip to Mass., to face ACC foe Boston College on Friday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. Wake will close out its road stretch against Northeastern on Sunday, Sept. 9 at noon.
