Good Morning, Deacon Nation!
We're proud of our 95% graduation success rate but playing in big games is a huge part of our goal of a World Class Student-Athlete Experience too! This weekend our football and soccer student-athletes have home contests with major implications — and we need fired up crowds both Saturday night at BB&T Field and then on Sunday at Spry Stadium!
The Big Four Championship is on the line Saturday night as the Deacs have already posted wins over North Carolina and NC State. Wake Forest can win our eighth all-time Big Four football championship and first since 2007 with a victory over Duke. Be there early to thank a special group of seniors who have helped Wake Forest achieve a school-record four consecutive bowl berths, three straight bowl wins, and 29 victories during their playing careers. And, 100% of these seniors will soon be Wake Forest graduates!
Saturday's football game also marks a significant milestone — the 300th all-time game at BB&T Field, and the 100th all-time meeting in the Wake vs. Duke series. Opened on Sept. 14, 1968, as Groves Stadium, BB&T Field has hosted countless thrilling finishes, witnessed two ACC Championships, and has been the site of numerous victories over ranked opponents. Saturday's fun will start in the free I'm A Fan Zone at 4:30 p.m. featuring live music from the Hollirockets, food trucks, ice cold North Carolina craft beers served up in the Lowes Foods Beer Den, inflatables, balloon artists and face painting for the kids, and of course, the final Deacon Walk of the 2019 season. Meanwhile, we're thrilled to welcome back former Wake Forest soccer player, professional photographer and best-selling author Kate Parker to campus this weekend. Not only will she be recognized as the 'Open the Gate' honoree at Saturday's football game, but she will give the keynote address at the NCAA Field Hockey Championship banquet on Thursday night.

No. 4 Seed Men's Soccer Begins Quest For the College Cup at Spry on Sunday
On Sunday, the road to the College Cup comes through Winston-Salem as we host the second round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament. For the fifth consecutive season under head coach Bobby Muuss, Wake Forest received a top-five seed in the NCAA Tournament, earning the No. 4 seed and a first round bye. Coach Muuss has done an outstanding job building a program that is consistently among the top in the country and regularly competes for championships. Come be a part of the best atmosphere in collegiate soccer as the Deacs take on either defending national champion Maryland or Iona on Sunday at 5 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
Tickets for the game are on sale now and are $10 for Adults (19+), $5 for Youth (4-18) and $3 for college students. Children under the age of 3 do not require a ticket for entry. Deacon Nation is reminded that NCAA Tournament seating on the Walt Chyzowych Alumni Hill requires a ticket.

Congratulations are in order for senior point guard Brandon Childress for eclipsing the 1,000-point Mark in the Deacs' win over UNC Asheville last week. He and his father, Randolph, are now the highest scoring father-son duo in ACC history with a combined 3,227 career points.

Wake Forest Hosts Bipartisan Conversation Featuring Senators Burr and Warner
Last Monday evening Wake Forest hosted a very special Veterans Day conversation between Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) and Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA). Kami Chavis, Professor of Law and director of the University's Criminal Justice Program, did an excellent job of moderating a fascinating discussion and behind-the-scenes look at how the work gets done on Capitol Hill. It was inspiring to attend and see how Senator Burr, of course a Wake Forest graduate and former Demon Deacon football student-athlete, and Senator Warner talk about putting political affiliations aside to work together to solve issues of national importance.
Amidst a very busy November, it is hard to believe Thanksgiving is just eight days away. I'm thankful for my incredible wife, Mary Lawrence, our three wonderful children, and the opportunity to return to our alma mater and live in such an amazing community. We wish all of Deacon Nation a very Happy Thanksgiving!
We'll see you at Spectrum on Friday, BB&T Field on Saturday and Spry on Sunday!
Go Deacs!
