Raca scores a team-high 15 points to lead the Deacs

RALIEGH, N.C.- The Wake Forest women's basketball team fell to No. 9 NC State, 80-46, Thursday night inside Reynolds Coliseum. Ivana Raca tallied 15 points and nine rebounds for the Deacs, nearly missing a double-double. It marked Raca's 19th game scoring in double figures this season.

Alex Sharp scored 10 points while securing nine rebounds and Gina Conti added seven points and four assists without turning the ball over once.

Maya Banks converted a layup in Wake Forest's (10-16, 1-12 ACC) first possession of the contest, giving the Deacs a 2-0 lead. NC State (23-3, 10-3 ACC) would answer with a 25-3 run over the next nine minutes. At the end of the first quarter, Wake Forest trailed NC State 27-7.

Conti got things started in the second quarter with a last-second jumper to beat an expiring shot clock. A 7-0 run from the Wolfpack would force Wake Forest to use a timeout with 5:35 remaining in the second segment. The first half ended with Wake Forest trailing NC State 47-20.

NC State began the third quarter on a 10-0 run, but the Deacs answered by igniting an 8-0 sequence thanks to five straight points from Conti and a Raca three-pointer. NC State would continue its pressure throughout the remainder of the contest to beat Wake Forest, 80-46.

The Deacs return home on Sunday, February 24 to host the Duke Blue Devils. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
