
Deacs Ready for Trek to Iowa State this Weekend

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's and women's track & field programs keep the season rolling with a trip to Ames, Iowa this weekend (Feb. 8-9) for the Iowa State Classic. The Demon Deacons will travel an estimated 1,010 miles to compete with 50 other schools at the national meet.
A total of 33 student-athletes will represent Wake Forest (16 men, 17 women), including 25 on the track and eight in the field. Several from both men's and women's side are reaching crunch time, as they seek qualifying marks for conference championship appearances.
The meet begins on Friday in the field with men's and women's jumps, weighted throw and men's pole vault events at noon. Simultaneously, on the track, men's and women's 60m hurdle prelims will get underway, followed by section one of the men's and women's 5000m.
LAST TIME OUT | The Deacs collected two event titles, four heat victories and 11 top-10 finishes at the Camel City Classic in Winston-Salem (Feb 1-2).
Seniors Dakota Greenwalt and Alva Hicks led the way for Wake Forest. Greenwalt put his talents on display with a win in the men's 1000m for his seventh top-5 finish of the indoor season. Hicks took the crown once again in the women's weighted throw for the second time this season.
The women's pole vault trio of Tesia Kempski (3rd), Darby Deutsch (7th) and Elaina Roeder (9th) displayed a balanced effort with three top-10 finishes. For the men, Kane Aldrich continued his hot streak with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault, as well.
Alexandria Florent cemented herself in the ACC top-five (5) In the women's high jump with a mark of 1.70m. Also, senior Robert Heppenstall set a personal best in the men's mile, clocking in at 4:07.79.
