Deacs Finish Second at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team concluded play Sunday at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate with the tournament's final round at Long Cove Club. The Demon Deacons finished the tournament at 15-over, tying for second place in an event that featured an elite field.
In an event that had 11 of the top 20 teams in the nation, the No. 13 Demon Deacons finished tied with No. 10 South Carolina, trailing only No. 19 Florida State. The Deacs finished ahead of four top-10 squads.
"We competed very well on a difficult golf course," said head coach Kim Lewellen. "I am excited about the direction we are headed."
Senior Jennifer Kupcho shot a final round 73 to finish the tournament tied for second at 3-under par. It was her 19th career top-5 finish and her 26th career top-10.
Vanessa Knecht posted the low round of the day for the Demon Deacons, shooting even par 71 on Sunday. Emilia Migliaccio shot 74 during the final round, while Siyun Liu and Letizia Bagnoli each shot 76.
The Deacs return to action March 15-16 with the Tar Heel Classic in the Dominican Republic.
