The Matchup
• Wake Forest has two midweek games this week before a break for final exams. The Deacs first play Gardner-Webb in Shelby at Keeter Stadium on Tuesday, then travel to High Point on Wednesday.
• Tuesday is Wake Forest's annual Jim Horn Memorial Game. Horn passed away in 2015 at age 79 after playing on Wake Forest's 1955 national championship team. He served as co-chairman on the American Legion World Series committee, which hosts the ALWS at Keeter Stadium annually.
Last Time Out
• The Demon Deacons took the series finale from Florida State on Sunday, winning the back-and-forth game by a 16-12 score.
• Bobby Seymour and Shane Muntz combined for 11 RBIs. Seymour went 3-for-6 with a pair of three-run doubles, while Muntz went 2-for-5 with a grand slam, two walks and five RBIs.
• Chris Lanzilli reached base five times with two singles and three walks. He also homered twice Saturday.
Wake Forest Storylines
• Wake Forest's offense has become one of the powers of the ACC. The Deacs rank in the top three in the league in batting average, runs, home runs, and slugging percentage, also ranking in the top 10 nationally in runs, homers and walks.
• A trio of Deacons have been the catalyst to that offense: Bobby Seymour, Patrick Frick and Shane Muntz. Seymour and Frick are ranked first and second in the ACC with batting averages of .379 and .377, respectively. Seymour leads the nation with 70 RBIs on 13 doubles and seven homers. Frick has hit 12 doubles and four homers while drawing a team-best 34 walks. Lanzilli is hitting .349, leading the team with 16 doubles and 12 homers to go along with 54 RBIs.
Opponent & Series History
• Wake Forest is 7-4 all-time against Gardner-Webb, most recently splitting a doubleheader in 2018's opening weekend. The Runnin' Bulldogs are 19-21 overall, and are coming off a series loss to Radford.
• The Deacs have a 36-19 edge over High Point all-time, including a 14-9 victory on April 9. The Panthers have won 7-of-8 games since falling to Wake Forest and are 19-19 overall.
