Wake Forest Returns to LJVM Coliseum for ACC Home Opener

The Demon Deacons will look to earn their second conference win on Sunday afternoon

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's basketball team hosts Georgia Tech in the ACC home opener Sunday at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
 
The Demon Deacons (8-5, 1-1 ACC) are coming off their first win at Duke since Jan. 25, 1993. With the help of a game-winning jumper from Gina Conti with 1.8 seconds left in the game, the Deacs won their first conference game of the season, 60-58.
 
The Yellow Jackets (11-2, 2-0 ACC) have won three straight including a victory over No. 23 Miami on Thursday night. They enter the game against Wake Forest as the ACC leader in points allowed with 46.23 points allowed per game.

Tipoff for Sunday's game against the Yellow Jackets is scheduled for noon (ET) in LVJM Coliseum. The game can also be seen on ACC Network.

Gina Conti enters the game against the Yellow Jackets needing just two assists to enter the top 10 in program history in total assists. She currently has 298 assists in her career.
 
This season she ranks fifth in the ACC in assists per game at a 5.15 clip. Conti has tallied five or more in the last six contests, the only player in the conference to do so.

  • With the game tied at 58-58 on the final possession, Gina knocked down the game-winning shot with 1.8 seconds left. It marks the first win in Cameron Indoor Stadium since Jan. 25, 1993.

STANDOUT STAT
With 11 points and a team-high 12 rebounds in the win over Duke, Alex Sharp now has 17 double-doubles in her career. She passed Alex Tchangoue (2006-09) for fifth in program history in career double-doubles.

NEXT UP
The Demon Deacons continue their homestand on Thursday when they play host to Clemson. Wake Forest has won nine of the last 11 games in the series against the Tigers.
