Averill Announces Eight Additions To Field Hockey

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Head coach Jen Averill has announced the Wake Forest Field Hockey program's 2020 signing class, featuring eight incoming Demon Deacons. 

"Wake Forest hockey is proud to announce the Class of 2020," Averill said. "This group of student-athletes is full of personality, character and talent. We are extremely proud of what they have accomplished prior to joining Wake and know that their contributions will be invaluable to our program, university and community." 

Through the 2019 season, Averill has accumulated a coaching record of 383-197-3 at Wake Forest while turning the Demon Deacons into a national power. Guiding the Demon Deacons to three National Championships, Averill has been named ACC Coach of the Year seven times.    

Grace Delmotte | North Vancouver
Delmotte attended Handsworth Secondary, where she helped her school win the 2018 and 2019 Senior Girls Field Hockey Provincial Championships. She was twice named a Senior Girls Field Hockey First Team All-Star (2018-19) while also being named a Second Team All-Star in 2017. 

She has represented Canada in numerous international events including being a member of the British Columbia U-19 Provincial Team. 

Lee Ann Gordon | Louisville 
Gordon attended Assumption (Ky.) High School, where she won two (2016 and 2019) Kentucky State Championships. In both championship games, Gordon scored the game-winning goal including one in double overtime as a freshman in 2016.  

In 2019, she was named the Courier Journal All-Area Player of the Year, Miss Kentucky Field Hockey, Max Field Hockey Kentucky Player of the Year, MVP of the Kentucky High School State Tournament and KHSAA Field Hockey State Student-Athlete of the Year. She was also selected as a Max Field Hockey Class of 2020 national Top-10 player.  

Gordon has represented the United States on the field as well, being selected for various international squads including the 2020 Rise USA Women's National Team. 

Lilly Lancaster | Wilmington, N.C. 
Lancaster attended Cape Fear Academy, where she was a five-year starter on the varsity team. She was named the Hurricanes' MVP three times while twice winning the Golden Ball Award. In 2018, she was an All-State selection and was also named Coastal Rivers Conference Female Academic Athlete of the Year earlier this year. 

She participated in the 2018 Junior Olympics and was a member of the Charlotte Ambush Field Hockey Club from 2014-20. 

Meredith Medvetz | Fallston, Md. 
Medvetz is joining the Demon Deacons after attending Notre Dame Preparatory School, where she earned four varsity letters in field hockey. 

Medvetz' Blazers were twice named IAAM A Conference Champions. During her senior season, Medvetz was named an IAAM A All-Conference First Team selection along with being named to The Baltimore Sun's All-Metro First Team, FHCAMD's All-State First Team and Max Field Hockey's All-Region First Team. 

She is joining Wake Forest Field Hockey after receiving eight Division I offers. 

Hannah Maxwell | Forty Fort, Pa. 
Maxwell earned four varsity letters at Wyoming Seminary (Pa.) High School. As a senior, she earned a top-10 national ranking in the Class of 2020 from Max Field Hockey. 

During her time at Wyoming Seminary, she earned numerous conference and state honors including being named the Senior All-Star Game MVP in 2019 as well as All-State First Team and All-Region First Team. Additionally, she received All-American Second Team honors and was named Player of the Year by The Citizens' Voice.

Immie Gillgrass | Worcester, England
Gillgrass attended The King's School Worcester, where she was a captain for the indoor team and vice captain for the outdoor squad. She represented England on the country's U-16, U-17 and U-18 squads. As a captain for the U-17 team, Gillgrass scored a pair of goals in a 5-0 victory over Scotland. 

In 2018, she was named the City of Worcester's Junior Sports Person of the Year Award. 

Tori Glaister | London
Glaister attended Millfield School where she was a vice captain during her senior season in 2019. She represented England on the U-18 squad for two years. 

She received three Division I offers, selecting Wake Forest over Louisville and Temple. 

Ally Butler | Chesterfield, Va. 
Butler attended Matoaca (Va.) High School, where she helped lead the Warriors to the school's first-ever trip to states as a senior. She holds numerous VHSL records including most saves in a game and season. 

In 2018, she was named an All-State First Team selection along with earning academic honors.
