Wake Forest Set for Back-to-Back ACC Matches

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball team enters the final stretch of the regular season looking to build upon a 3-0 sweep of Virginia last Sunday. The Deacs will host Virginia Tech on Thursday and then travel to Durham on Friday to square off against the Duke Blue Devils.

Statistically, Wake Forest has remained inside the top 10 in multiple categories since the start of the season. They are fourth in the league in service aces, with 1.45 per set. They are ninth in kills (13.04/set), ninth in hitting percentage (.239) and eighth in blocks (2.32/set).

Senior setter Andrea Fuentes is fifth in the Atlantic Coast Conference in assists per set, with 10.05/set through 81 sets. She has tallied 814 helpers through 23 matches, which is third-most in the league. She is also ninth in the league in service aces, averaging 0.33/set.

Freshman libero Kalani Whillock is third in the league in digs per set, averaging 3.99 through 81 sets. Her 323 total digs is fourth in the league.

Grad transfer Kamryn Malloy plays all six rotations for the Deacs and leads the team in total kills for the season, tallying 291 through 23 matches. She has also amassed 181 digs, which is second on the team, behind libero Kalani Whillock (323). She leads the team with an average of 3.55 kills per set. She is currently seventh in the league in points (4.04/set) and her 3.55 kills/set is good for eighth in the league.

The Matches
Wake Forest will host Virginia Tech on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in Varsity Arena and then travel to Durham to face off against the Duke Blue Devils on Friday at 7 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Wake Forest volleyball team swept the Virginia Cavaliers, 3-0, last Sunday afternoon in Charlottesville. The Deacs were led by Kamryn Malloy's match-high 17 kills and .457 hitting percentage. Olivia Franke finished with eight kills and zero errors for a team-high hitting percentage of .571. Andrea Fuentes orchestrated the offense and played a major role in the defense as she recorded a double-double performance with 36 assists and 10 digs. Peyton Suess led the team in the passing game with 11 digs and chipped in seven kills. Delaney McSweeney also added seven kills and led the team on the net with a match-high four blocks.
