Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team begins postseason play Thursday, April 15 with the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, held at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Demon Deacons and senior Emilia Migliaccio are the reigning team and individual champions from 2019. Wake Forest carded a team score of 850 to finish the championship 14-under-par, winning the championship by eight strokes. It was Wake Forest's sixth ACC Championship in program history and first since 2010. Migliaccio put together an outstanding performance to claim the individual title at 11-under-par 205, the best individual score at Sedgefield and one stroke shy of the individual record for an ACC Championship.
Of the 31 ACC women's golf titles, Wake Forest owns the second-most titles with six. Wake Forest is also second in individual champions, with eight. Wake Forest, Duke and North Carolina are the only schools that have participated in all 31 women's golf championships.
After fall golf was cancelled in the ACC due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Wake Forest had five team events this spring to prepare for postseason. Of those five events, the Deacs came away with two team titles, two second-place finishes and a fourth-place finish. Rachel Kuehn also captured her second collegiate title as an individual this spring, winning the Palmetto Intercollegiate where Wake Forest also took home the team title.
Course
The Championship event will be held at the par-72, 6,089-yard Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, which has hosted nine of the past 11 ACC women's golf championships, including the Demon Deacons title sweep in 2019. Wake Forest also won the first two ACC titles at the club in 2009 and 2010, under legendary head coach Dianne Dailey.
Wake Forest also won back-to-back conference titles in 1994 and 1995, also under Coach Dailey.
"The course is an exquisite design with small, undulating greens and rolling fairways that create a challenge for the expert player, yet offer fun for the beginner. Ranked 13th in North Carolina and hosting the PGA Tour's Wyndham Championship, the members of Sedgefield take great pride in calling it home. Better course conditions, variety and pace of play in the Triad are hard to come by."
