Championship Season Begins Thursday

RALEIGH, N.C. – Wake Forest track and field will begin championship season as they travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to compete in this year's ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Paul Derr Track Facility on the campus of NC State.
The men's and women's teams, which both rank No. 12 respectively on the latest USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field conference polls will enter the championship meet with one NCAA top-10 times and marks.
Thrower Alexandra Roberts is ranked No. 8 in the NCAA with her throw of 57.68m at the Raleigh Relays. She also has recorded four first place finishes and a second-place finish, recently.
In the ACC performance list, the Deacs claim five top-5 and 19 top-10 times and marks throughout the 2021 outdoor season. Junior Zach Facioni and freshman Thomas Kitchell claim two top-10 times and marks in two different events.
Prelims are set for early Thursday evening in several running events, followed by the women's 10,000-meter final at 8:10 p.m. and the men's 10,000m at 8:50.
A full slate of events and preliminaries continues Friday and Saturday, with finals in 20 running events wrapping up the Championships on Saturday evening from 5 until 9 p.m.
No spectators will be admitted to this year's ACC Championships due to ongoing COVID-19 precautions, but ACC Network Extra plans livestream coverage from 2 p.m. through 9 p.m. each of the meet's three days. Veteran ESPN announcer Shawn Kenney and analyst Larry Rawson will be on hand to add commentary beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and on Saturday at 5 p.m. through conclusion of the meet.
