Hartman Named to Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List

The redshirt sophomore quarterback lands on this prestigious list for the second-straight year.
WINSTON-SALEM. N.C. - For the second-straight season, Wake Forest redshirt sophomore quarterback Sam Hartman was named to the 2021 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, as announced Thursday.
The award is presented annually by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc. to the nation's top quarterback who best exemplifies character, scholastic and athletic achievement. Hartman was also named to the watch list ahead of the 2020 season.
A team captain for the second consecutive year in 2021, Hartman heads into his redshirt sophomore campaign with 5,038 career passing yards, the eighth most in program history, and ranks in the top 10 in program history in touchdowns, completions, attempts and passing efficiency.
In 2020, the Charlotte, N.C. native started all nine games and finished 28th nationally in passing yards with 2,224 to go along with 13 touchdowns and a career-high completion percentage of 62.
After a record-setting performance against North Carolina in 2020, he became one of three Wake Forest quarterbacks with multiple four-plus touchdown games (John Wolford, Riley Skinner).
Additionally. Hartman held a streak of 258 passes without throwing an interception dating back to the 2019 season. This set a new program record and was the fifth-longest streak in ACC history.
