
No. 13 Wake Forest Finishes Regular Season Road Slate at No. 21 Boston College and Brown

The Deacs head into the penultimate weekend of the regular season winners of 11 of their last 13 matches. Additionally, Wake Forest hasn’t allowed a goal against a conference opponent in its last three contests.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 13 Wake Forest field hockey team finishes the road portion of its 2022 regular season slate with matchups at No. 21 Boston College and Brown (Sunday, Oct. 23) this weekend.
The Demon Deacons'(11-4, 3-1 ACC) road ACC finale against the Eagles (6-8, 2-2 ACC) on Friday, Oct. 21 is slated for a 5 p.m. start and can be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
Wake Forest returns to the turf on Sunday in its last road match of the 2022 regular season against Brown (8-5, 1-3 Ivy) on Sunday, Oct. 23 at Noon. The match can be streamed on ESPN+ with a paid subscription.
Opponent/Series History
The Deacs hold a 19-9 advantage in the all-time series against the Eagles. The last time Wake Forest traveled to Boston College in 2020, the Demon Deacons came away with a 6-2 win.
Sunday's non-conference contest between the Deacs and Bears marks the first time the two teams will face off against each other.
Last Time Out
Coming off its second top-10 victory against No. 6 Virginia, the then-No. 12 Wake Forest field hockey team suffered a 2-0 defeat on Sunday, Oct. 16 against No. 17 James Madison at the JMU Field Hockey Complex.
The Deacs who came into the contest on a season-long six match win streak, trailed for the first time since its conference opener at No. 1 North Carolina on Friday, Sept. 23 after the Dukes (8-5) found the back of the net in the first and second quarters.
Wake Forest blanked James Madison in the second half, highlighted by outstanding play from the defensive penalty corner unit as the Deacs denied 10 second-half shots and four second-half corner opportunities. Additionally, Lee Ann Gordon was credited with a defensive save after stopping a James Madison attempt late in the match.

The Wake Forest field hockey team was ranked No. 13 in the eighth 2022 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) poll. This marked the 44th-straight NFCHA poll the Deacs have been featured in. Since the poll's inception in 2018, Wake Forest has appeared in 47 of the 48 weekly polls.

Jennifer Averill secured her 400th win as the head coach of Wake Forest Field Hockey on Friday, Sept. 16 with the Deacs' 4-3 victory against Richmond. In 31 seasons at the helm of the program, Averill holds an overall record of 407-222-3 and an overall mark of 427-254-6 in 32 years of coaching.

Wake Forest has posted win streaks of five (Sept. 2-Sept. 18) and six (Sept. 25-Oct. 14) this season. Currently, Wake Forest heads into the weekend winners of 11 of their last 13 matches.

Wake Forest's defense continues to impress, holding an opponent to two goals or less 13 times this season. Furthermore, the Deacs haven't allowed any goals in its last three conference matchups against nationally-ranked foes Duke, Louisville and Virginia.

Meike Lanckohr and Grace Delmotte are among the best passers in the ACC. Lanckohr leads the conference in assists per game (.64), while Delmotte ranks fourth (.53). In overall assists, Lanckohr is tied for an ACC best, while Delmotte has dished out the second-most assists in the conference.

Freshman goalkeeper Ellie Todd has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week twice this season. Todd earned a trio of wins during Wake Forest's perfect week against Davidson, No. 7 Louisville and VCU, notching seven stops while allowing just two goals in 180 minutes of action in goal. The Boston, Mass. native was instrumental in Wake Forest's ACC victory over the nationally-ranked Cardinals as Todd posted her third shutout of the season, making five defensive stops in the Demon Deacons' first top-10 win since 2018. Todd earned the first conference accolade of her career after pitching her third shutout of the season in Wake Forest's ACC home-opening victory against No. 22 Duke on Sunday, Oct. 2. The Boston, Mass. native tallied five saves in 60 minutes of game action in goal to earn the seventh win of her freshman season. Todd registered a career performance in the cage in Wake Forest's ACC opener at North Carolina. The Boston, Mass. native became the first Demon Deacon to tally double-digit saves in a match since 2015, registering a career-high 12 stops. Todd currently is tied for the most saves in a single match this season across the ACC.

Delmotte dished out a career-high tying two assists in back-to-back matches against Lafayette and UC Davis before notching an assist in her third-straight match against. The junior played for Field Hockey Canada's 2022 Women's World Cup roster. Delmotte was one of 18-athletes selected to represent Canada in the country's first World Cup appearance in 28 years. Canada defeated Team USA for the bronze medal at the 2022 Pan American Cup to qualify for the World Cup. Delmotte was one of four recent graduates of Team Canada's Junior National Program to land on the World Cup roster. The junior earned her first senior cap in her first World Cup action on opening night against Spain. On July 7, Delmotte found the back of the net to put Canada 1-0 just five minutes into its match against Argentina.

In addition to her conference-leading assist mark, Meike Lanckohr ranks fourth in points and shots while sitting in fifth in goals. The All-American was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. Sept. 13. Lanckohr earned the second conference player of the week nod of her career after leading the Deacs in a perfect 2-0 weekend on the Wake Forest's West Coast road trip with a team-high 12 points, netting a team-high five goals and two assists. Lanckohr received All-America and All-ACC first team accolades for the second-straight season in 2021 after posting a team-best and career-high 20 points with a career-high nine goals and two assists in 2021. Overall, the Voerendaal, Netherlands native finished tied for second in the ACC in goals, while ranking third in points per game (1.54).

A number of Deacs have been able to net goals this season as eight players have scored multiple goals this season: Meike Lanckohr (8), Sky Caron (6), Ashley Hart (5), Hannah Maxwell (5), Grace Delmotte (5), Anna Gwiazdziski (3), Maggie Dickman (2) and Abby Carpenter (2).

Lee Ann Gordon competed with the U-21 Field Hockey US Women's National Team squad in the Uniphar 5-Nations Tournament in Dublin, Ireland as Team USA took home a bronze medal. On July 26, Nat Friedman was named to the 2022-23 U.S. Women's National Team, heading to Charlotte for training camp on Sunday, July 31-Thursday, Aug. 4

Wake Forest returns to Kentner Stadium for the first time since its top-10 win against Louisville on Friday, Oct. 7 in the team's regular season finale against No. 12 Syracuse on Friday, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m.
