CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Two Demon Deacons will represent the Wake Forest field hockey program on the national level as junior midfielder Nat Friedman and sophomore defender Lee Ann Gordon were selected to 2022 USA Field Hockey National Teams.
Friedman was one of eight selections to the 2022 USA Field Hockey Development team, while Gordon was named to the 2022 U.S. U-21 Women's National Team. The duo earned their selections after an impressive performance over a four-day selection camp at Queens University of Charlotte.
The pair of Demon Deacons also represented the Old Gold and Black on Team USA last summer as Friedman was named a member of the USA Field Hockey Women's Junior Pan American Championship (JPAC) Training Squad and the U-22 Women's National Team competed against Chile while Gordon was tabbed to the USA Field Hockey U-21 Development Selection Camp Roster.
Friedman earned 2021 Second Team NFHCA All-Region and Second Team All-ACC honors after dishing out a career-high eight assists, which was tied for the ACC lead at the end of the regular season. In addition to setting up her teammate, Friedman notched goals against James Madison and VCU.
Gordon anchored the Wake Forest defense in her second collegiate season, starting in all 17 games. The Demon Deacon defense was smothering all season long, holding their opponents to two or less goals in 13 matches.
Gordon and Friedman are now off to Chula Vista, Calif. for training camp from Wednesday, Feb. 23 to Sunday, Feb. 27.
