No. 8 Deacs Focused on Road Trip to Virginia

Wake Forest is set to travel to the state of Virginia, battling Virginia Tech on Friday and No. 11 Virginia on Sunday.

BLACKSBURG, VA. – Coming off a bye week, No. 8 Wake Forest men's tennis will look to further its seven-match win streak this weekend, traveling to Virginia Tech (5-12, 1-5 ACC) and No. 11 Virginia (12-5, 6-0 ACC).

The Demon Deacons, currently No. 8 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings. Virginia stands at No. 11 nationally.

LAST TIME OUT
The full team depth was on display as the Wake Forest men's tennis once again picked up two wins in a home doubleheader. The Demon Deacons defeated then-No. 29 NC State, 5-2, before taking down Bluefield State, 6-1.
 
With the two home wins moves Wake Forest to 17-0 at home in 2022 and 96-4 since 2016. The Deacs remain undefeated in ACC play, moving to a perfect 4-0.
 
RANKED DEACS
On Wednesday (Mar. 23), per updated national rankings released by the International Tennis Association (ITA), Wake Forest as a team was ranked No. 8 and continued to see familiar names placed among the lists of singles and doubles.
 
Singles Rankings: Doubles Rankings: SCOUTING VIRGINIA TECH
Wake Forest leads the all-time series with a decisive 27-14, as the Deacs have won the last seven meetings. The last time the Deacs played the Hokies was a 5-2 win in Winston-Salem in 2021.
 
Virginia Tech sits at 5-12 on the season, losing the seven of the last eight matches. The Hokies are most recently coming off a 1-1 weekend, winning a match at then-No. 63 Clemson.

SCOUTING NO. 11 VIRGINIA

Virginia sits at 12-5 on the season, winning the seven matches. The Cavaliers are most recently coming off a 2-0 weekend with wins over at Georgia Tech (4-3) and at Clemson (4-0).
