The Demon Deacons move to 18-0 at home.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The clinching fourth point from junior Robert Maciag sealed the deal as the No. 7-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team protected their home courts against No. 67 Clemson for their 18th consecutive home win Friday evening, earning a 6-1 home victory.
The win gives the Deacs (25-5, 8-1 ACC) 11 triumphs over ranked opponents this season, while Clemson (10-11, 1-8 ACC) suffers its eighth ACC loss of the season and 11th defeat of the year.
Wake Forest won the doubles point for the 21st time this season and improved to 20-1 when taking a 1-0 advantage with a doubles victory. The Deacs also rolled to three singles wins over the Tigers, with all three of those victories coming in straight sets. The Deacs have 23 different combos in doubles.
Quotable
"I'm super proud of the team for dealing with the weather and responding with resilience. It was extremely windy and that can make serving and reading the ball difficult but the team did a great job. I thought we did exactly what we needed to do in doubles. In singles, I thought some of the guys started a little slow, getting used to the weather but then responded well. Jakob (Schnaitter) is red hot, he has won 11-straight matches. Overall, I am excited to welcome a good Georgia Tech team and Campbell on Sunday." - Coach Bresky

Singles got underway and for the 11th-straight time, Schnaitter wasted no time with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Whitaker on court four.
Leading 2-0, Nava claimed a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Azuma on court one to extend Wake Forest's lead to 3-0. Soon to follow was Maciag's win on court six, as he picked up a win due to his opponent's retirement, Maciag led, 6-3, 5-4 to clinch match point for the Deacs.
