Three Deacs Punch Tickets to NCAA Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Tony Jones, Thomas Vanoppen and Zach Facioni of the Wake Forest's men track and field program punched their tickets to Eugene, Oregon for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the NCAA East Prelims.
Leap to Eugene
Tony Jones punched his ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on his last attempt at 2.18m, tying his personal best. He finished tied for sixth in the event, securing his berth to Eugene. This is his first trip to Eugene after his incredible jumping collegiate career at Wake Forest, he owns the indoor and outdoor high jump school records.
Vanoppen Zooming
The graduate student Thomas Vanoppen followed up Jones' success when he earned his trip after placing third in his quarterfinal, pacing to a 3:41.31 time and 10th overall finish.
Zach Is Back
In 2021, Zach Facioni earned a trip to the NCAA Championships for the first time in his track and field career. In 2022, he is making his return after he placed third in the 5000m semifinal. He paced to a 13:44.04 time and placed 10th overall.
