Record 296 Deac Student-Athletes Land on ACC Academic Honor Roll; Nearly 70% of Demon Deacons Honored

For the third consecutive season, over 50 percent of the Wake Forest student-athletes have landed on the list while also having additional Wake Forest ACC Academic Honor Roll records.

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A record total of 296 Wake Forest student-athletes have earned spots on the 2021-22 Atlantic Coast Conference Honor Roll, announced Friday by the conference office.

This is the highest mark in Wake Forest history and marks the third consecutive year that the Demon Deacons have landed more than 280 student-athletes on the ACC Academic Honor Roll. Overall, 296 student-athletes represents 70 percent of the all Demon Deacons.

Additionally in total, an impressive 51 percent of Wake Forest student-athletes were honored by the conference. This is the third consecutive year that over 50 percent of the student-athletes have landed on the list.

"I am very proud of our student-athletes and their ability to balance academics and athletics," Jane Caldwell, Sr. Associate AD, Student-Athlete Services and Assistant to the Dean said. "I would also like to extend my gratitude for my colleagues and our professors for their hard work in assisting our entire student body in returning back to an in-person class environment this academic year. Our student-athletes have represented our University and the Athletic Department with integrity and their hard work is an inspiration to us all."

The honor roll consists of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year.

The Demon Deacon football team led the way with 78 honorees, a program record. They were followed by track & field with 50 combined, including 34 women and 16 men.

Of the 296 honorees, a record 180 Wake Forest student-athletes earned ACC All-Academic honors multiple times during their time on campus. This includes 90 student-athletes that have earned this distinction for the second time, 47 who were on the list for the third time and a record 38 who were four-year honorees.

Also included amongst the 180 multi-time honorees were Katrina Andreassen of women's track & field, Hulda Arnarsdottir of women's soccer, Tyriq Hardimon of football, Michael Jurgens of football, Rachel Kern of women's track and field and Luke Masterson of football.

Andreassen, Arnarsdottir, Hardimon, Jurgens, Kern and Masterson all earned their fifth distinction on the list. This marks the most fifth-year honorees in Wake Forest history and the second time there have been multiple in the same year.
