Deacs Defense Stifles Lancers En Route to 3-0 Win

FARMVILLE, Va. - The Wake Forest field hockey team bounced back with a 3-0 win over Longwood on Sunday afternoon at Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field.
Wake Forest (6-7, 0-4 ACC) picked up their third-straight nonconference win with all three coming on the road for the Demon Deacons.
The Wake defense held Longwood (3-13, 1-4 MAC) to just three shots, including keeping the Lancers out of the shooting circle for the entirety of the first 15 minutes of play. All three of Longwood's shots came in the third quarter of action, as the Deacs held the Lancers without a shot in three of the four quarters of action.
Offensively, Faye Janse took four of the Deacs 18 shots with her final shot finding the back of the net for the second of her freshman campaign. Wake Forest finished the match with six corners while holding Longwood to just one.

- The Deacs outshot Longwood 3-0 in the first with shots by Ava Franco, Anna Gwiazdzinski and Nat Friedman.
- The offense created three penalty corner opportunities in the first quarter for the Demon Deacons, but were unable to capitalize.
- Wake took advantage on their fourth corner of the match with Grace Delmotte finding Friedman on the insert for the Demon Deacon goal.
- The goal was the second of the season for Friedman and ninth of her career.
- For Delmotte, the assist was her first of the season and 20th of her career.
