This is the third top-four finish for the Deacs this fall.
CHICAGO, Ill. - The Wake Forest women's golf team wrapped up play at the Windy City Collegiate Classic Tuesday afternoon in fourth place.
The Deacs have now finished 20+ strokes under par in every event of the fall season and have not finished outside the top four in any event. Wake Forest came in third at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in September and won the Schooner Classic in Oklahoma last week.
The North Carolina duo of Rachel Kuehn and Macy Pate led the Deacs in Chicago as they both finished six under par with scorecards of 210 and tied for 11th on the individual leaderboard. Junior Carolina Chacarra was right behind them, turning a final scorecard of 211, good for five under par and tied for 14th. She has finished inside the top 15 of every event so far this season.
Senior Mimi Rhodes recorded her third top-20 finish of the year with a 54-hole score 212, four-under-par. Rhodes and freshman Brooke Rivers each started the final round with birdies on the first hole of the day. Rhodes book-ended her round with a birdie on her final hole as well to finish the day one-under. Rivers had two more birdies on her first nine to record her first round under par for the event.
Pate was the low finisher of the day, carding a three-under 69. She had three birdies on her first nine holes and recorded one more on her second nine to keep her scorecard in the 60s. Chacarra was two under on the day with a bogey-free scorecard and a birdie on both her first and second nine holes.
Kuehn went one-under in the final round along with Rhodes and Rivers with the help of two birdies on her first nine and one more on her second. Kuehn was second in scoring for the tournament on par fives, going six-under. Pate was third in scoring on par threes, going two-under.
Wake Forest finished with a tournament-high 206 pars and Rhodes led the field individually with 42. Every other Demon Deacon recorded 41 pars over their 54 holes. Wake was the only school in the field to have all five players record 40 or more pars.
Coach's Comments
"This team played well and finished with some good head-to-head wins. We left some birdies out there, so I look to when our offense is in full force to know what this team is capable of. We have another quick turnaround, so we will use the next few days to rest, recover, and touch on things needed for the Stephens Cup." - head coach Kim Lewellen
