
Deacs to Finish Out Spring Regular Season at Home

Final opportunities to check out action at the Wake Forest Tennis Center!
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – One last week of regular-season action has officially arrived for Wake Forest women's tennis, as the team will hold three total matches at its tennis center this weekend.
The Demon Deacons (14-11, 4-7) are set to host Virginia Tech on Friday evening (April 14). Sunday will feature the team's fifth home doubleheader of the spring, taking on No. 9 Virginia and North Carolina A&T throughout the afternoon (April 16).
Live stats and live streaming will be available for each of the three matches.
Wake Forest most recently made in-state visits to Duke University (April 6) and North Carolina (April 8) for road competition.

On the road to start the first of two final regular-season weeks, the Demon Deacons visited Big Four foe Duke University on Thursday evening (April 6) in nearby Durham. The No. 6 Blue Devils ended victoriously in the contest on a 4-0 decision.
Saturday, April 8 – No. 1 North Carolina 4, No. 24 Wake Forest 0
Continuing a slight road stretch for a second consecutive Big Four showing, Wake Forest made its way into Tar Heel territory on Saturday afternoon (April 8) to face No. 1 North Carolina inside of the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The host went on to stay undefeated in a 4-0 victory.
Anna Brylin/Brooke Killingsworth showed out in the contest, reeling in a ranked win over No. 22 Reese Brantmeier/Elizabeth Scotty. It was the duo's second such victory of the spring. Brylin/Killingsworth hold a 13-4 clip in 2023.
Facing a top-25 national foe in North Carolina's Abbey Forbes during singles play, Killingsworth won her opening set before play went unfinished in second singles.
Still Standing Out
This past weekend saw Anna Brylin tie with former Deacon standout Bea Bielik (1999-02) for sixth all-time in career doubles wins (93) throughout program history. Brylin has won 14 such victories this year, as all but one have happened alongside junior Brooke Killingsworth.
Killingsworth is edging her way closely to 100 combined wins in her collegiate career, needing only five more. The Rogers, Arkansas, native is second on the roster in doubles victories and fourth in singles wins.
Brylin/Killingsworth are steadying an eight-match winning streak in doubles. Additionally, the pair has only let up eight games in their last four completed matches.

Tuesday (April 11) involved the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) releasing its final rankings of the 2023 spring regular season, as Wake Forest rests at No. 28 as a team. Individually, three total Deacs continue to hold nods:

Scouting the Opposition
Virginia Tech holds a 10-11 overall record, having only won a single match in conference play (1-10) and lost its last six contests. Ozlem Uslu is the Hokies' lone ranked player – No. 54 in ITA Singles, leading the group in solo wins (15-5). Katie Andreini has collected 14 singles victories this year, while Semra Aksu and Tamara Barad Itzhaki have chipped in 11 apiece. Barad Itzhaki and Aksu have also teamed in doubles to pace Virginia Tech with eight wins.
A top-10 team in the country, No. 9 Virginia (16-4, 9-2) is on a four-match winning streak and plays No. 8 NC State on Friday (April 14). The team has won 11 of 12 showings at home throughout the spring, along with a 4-1 clip in road performances. Several Cavaliers are ranked within the ITA pool:

The Aggies of North Carolina A&T are now 7-5 overall this spring after taking four of their last five appearances. Nuria Sanz is a perfect 10-0 in singles showings, her past three all happening in straight sets. The freshman has also partnered with sophomore Cielo Tapia-Cruz to gather five doubles wins, as the duo have won three straight. Lana Caculovic is second on the squad in singles (8-2) and Tapia-Cruz has contributed seven victories as an individual.

The 2023 ACC Tournament is next for the Demon Deacons, as the team will wait for news of its first matchup. Event competition will take place April 19-23 in Cary, North Carolina.
