NORMAN, Okla. - The No. 2 Wake Forest women's golf team is back in action this weekend at the Schooner Classic in Norman, Oklahoma, hosted by the University of Oklahoma.

The reigning NCAA Champions are one of four preseason top-25 teams in the 1-team field and are joined by fellow ACC competitors Florida State and Virginia Tech. For the first round of play, the Deacs will be paired with Houston and Virginia Tech.

The Deacs are coming off a third-place finish last week at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. This week will be the program's first appearance in the Schooner Classic since it began in 2014.

Wake Forest led by reigning ACC Player of the Year and ACC Women's golf Scholar Athlete of the Year Rachel Kuehn and WGCA National Coach of the Year Kim Lewellen. In her sixth year at the helm, Lewellen and the Deacs have won two ACC titles (2019, 2022), won the 2023 NCAA Championship and finished runner-up at the 2019 NCAA Championships. Lewellen is assisted by seventh-year Lyons Family Associate Head Coach Ryan Potter.

The English golfer was the top finisher for the Demon Deacons and recorded her second top-five finish of her career.

Rhodes finished the 2022-23 season fifth on the team with a stroke average of 72.92 over 36 rounds played. She had six top-25 finishes including a seventh-place finish in stroke play at the ACC Championships, her best finish of the year, where she recorded a career-low 67 in the second round of stroke play. The then-junior also went undefeated in match play at the NCAA Championships to help the team earn their first national title in program history.

She recorded five birdies in her final 18 holes to maintain her position on the leaderboard after going one-over and three-under in her first two rounds. Three of her five final-round birdies came on her final five holes.

Chacarra finished third on the team last season with a 71.70 stroke average over 33 rounds played. She had 10 top-21 finishes in 11 events, with four of those being inside the top 11.
