Four Deacs finished the first day of play inside the top 20.
NORMAN, Okla. - The Wake Forest women's golf team leads the 15-field team by four strokes after the first 18 holes of play at the Schooner Classic.
Junior Carolina Chacarra led the way for Wake Forest with her second-lowest round of her collegiate career. The Spaniard carded a bogey-free seven-under 63 on her first 18 holes, with five birdies on her first nine holes and two more on her second. This is the third-consecutive round in the 60's for the Madrid native, carrying over from her final two rounds at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate last week.
Graduate fifth-year Rachel Kuehn made up for a single blemish on her card with five birdies in her first round, two on her first nine and three on her second. She ended the day with a birdie on the par-four 18th after having back-to-back low scores on the par-five 12th and par-three 13th.
Freshman Macy Pate started the day with back-to-back birdies on the par-five third and par-four fourth holes before recording a third right before the turn on the par-three eighth hole. Before the round was done, she tallied one more on the par-three 17th to finish the day one under. Saturday marked the second under-par round in as many events in her debut season.
Senior Mimi Rhodes played a balanced first round, starting with back-to-back birdies on the second and third holes. Two bogeys on her second nine holes had her finish the day even par and inside the top 20. Freshman Brooke Rivers will start tomorrow's second round four over par.
Second Round
Sunday's second round will begin with tee times starting at 10:00 a.m. ET. Wake Forest will be paired with Houston and Virginia Tech. Official tee times will be announced once they are made available. Live scoring is available via Golf Genius.
