No. 3 Wake Forest Prepped for Road Tilt at Louisville and Notre Dame

The Demon Deacons are on a seven-match winning streak, dating back to March 1.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Winners of 11 of their last 13 matches, including seven straight, the No. 3-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team will travel for a pair of Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) duals against Louisville and Notre Dame on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
 
Friday, first serve between the Demon Deacons and the 35th-ranked Cardinals is slated for 3 p.m., while Sunday's match against No. 54 Notre Dame will begin at noon.

Last Time Out (VCU/Campbell)
Behind a perfect 6-0 mark in singles play, Wake Forest earned a pair of 4-0 sweeps over VCU and Campbell Sunday evening at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
 
After sweeping 43rd-ranked VCU, and extending its winning streak to five against the Rams, Wake Forest knocked off in-state foe Campbell. The victory over the Fighting Camels improved the Demon Deacons to an impressive 21-4 against schools in the state of North Carolina since the start of the 2022 campaign.
 
Individually, the Deacs were led by Holden Koons as the graduate student recorded singles wins in both matches, including the clinch against Campbell.
 
DK Suresh Ekambaram and Luciano Tacchi both recorded singles wins over ranked opponents, defeating then-No. 41 Mathis Bondaz and then-No. 70 Matisse Bobichon of VCU in straight sets, respectively.
 
Suresh Ekambaram's victory marked his team-high fifth win over a ranked opponent this season. Additionally, it marked his third top-60 win over the last nine days and his second in as many days.
 
In doubles, Luciano Tacchi/Luca Pow earned a decisive shutout (6-0) against Romain Gales/Mathis Bondaz of VCU – which marked the duo's fourth-straight dual doubles win.
 
Winning Ways
Wake Forest currently owns a seven-match winning streak, dating back to the ACC opener against Virginia. Over the Demon Deacons' streak, they've defeated four nationally-ranked opponents.
 
Overall this season, the Deacs have registered six wins over top-25 opponents, including three over teams currently ranked in the top-15.
 
Lineup Depth
Wake Forest's depth has been a key to the Demon Deacons' success, as Luciano Tacchi, Luca Pow and Holden Koons have combined to go a stellar 42-11 in dual singles matches, primarily playing the 4-6 positions.

The Matchup - No. 35 Louisville
No. 35 Louisville has started the 2024 campaign with a 12-6 ledger, including a 2-2 mark in ACC play. The Cardinals are an impressive 9-2 at home, boasting wins over then-No. 36 Indiana and Miami. Louisville has been led in singles play by the tandem of No. 45 Etienne Donnet and No. 90 Will Mayew, as they've combined to go 20-9 this season. Natan Rodrigues has also had a solid campaign thus far, accumulating a 10-4 record in singles, playing primarily at the No. 2 spot.

No. 54 Notre Dame (9-8, 1-3 ACC) has had a solid start to the 2024 season, earning wins over then-No. 50 Northwestern and then-No. 61 Miami. The Fighting Irish are 8-3 at home this season, including competitive matches against Florida State and Illinois.
