Freshman Luca Pow has now won 11-consecutive dual singles matches.

LOUISVILLE – Behind singles wins in the 4-6 positions, the No. 3-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team earned a 4-3 victory over Louisville Friday evening at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Demon Deacons (18-4, 4-1 ACC) have now won eight-consecutive matches, dating back to March 1. Friday also marked the Deacs' 12th-straight victory over the Cardinals (12-7, 2-3 ACC) as Wake Forest has now outscored Louisville 24-6 over the last six meetings between the two sides.

Over the Demon Deacons' current eight-match winning streak, they've accumulated a 27-10 record in singles, going undefeated in the No. 5 and 6 slots. Individually, the Deacs have been led by graduate student Holden Koons and freshman Luca Pow.

Friday, Wake Forest got off to a strong start in doubles, leading on all three courts, before going on to secure the point behind wins on courts one and two, respectively. Of note, the nation's top doubles pairing (DK Suresh Ekambaram and Holden Koons) earned their 13th dual doubles win of the season, knocking off No. 9-ranked Etienne Donnet/Natan Rodrigues.

In singles, senior Luciano Tacchi, Koons and Pow all defeated their opponents in straight sets to clinch Wake Forest's eighth-consecutive victory. Pow, a native of Solihull, England, recorded his team-high 11th-consecutive dual singles win.

Additionally, Tacchi's 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 90 Will Mayew marked his fourth ranked win of the 2024 campaign.

From Coach Bresky
"It's always good to get an ACC road win, considering they're tough to come by. Our doubles was really good today. We did a good job to get the clinch there shortly after in singles. Now, we'll hit the road for another tough matchup on Sunday against Notre Dame." - Head coach Tony Bresky
