The Deacs enjoy the longest homestand of the season with the next five matches at Kentner Stadium.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey team returns to Kentner Stadium for a pair of matches this weekend against No. 15 Syracuse on Friday, Sept. 27 and Kent State on Sunday, Sept. 29.

First touch against the Orange is set for 6 p.m. on the ACC Network while Sunday's match against the Golden Flashes is set at noon on ACC Network Extra.

Opponent/Series History
  • Wake Forest takes on Syracuse for the 16th time in program history on Friday. The Deacs trail the Orange 7-8 all-time and have won the last two in the series. The Demon Deacons will look for their third-straight win against the Orange for the longest win streak against Syracuse in program history.
  • Sunday marks the ninth meeting between the Demon Deacons and the Golden Flashes and the first since 2006. Wake Forest has outscored the Flashes 11-0 in the last two meetings.

Wake Forest Highlights
  •  Head coach Jen Averill is in her 33rd season at the helm of the Wake Forest field hockey program, amassing an overall record of 421-238-3 as a Demon Deacon and an overall mark of 441-270-6 in 33 years of coaching.
  • Wake returns 16 players from the 2023 squad and welcomes eight freshmen and two transfers to the program. The returners made 211 appearances last season, seven of which appeared in all 17 matches.
  • Junior goalkeeper Ellie Todd is first among league keepers at 4.14 SPG, averaging 0.76 more saves per game than the next closest ACC goalie.
    • Todd leads the league with 29 saves on the season and is one of just two ACC goalies with a save percentage over .750 and at least 20 saves.
    • She is one of just five ACC goalies with two shutouts this season.
    • Her eight saves against Michigan is the second most by an ACC goalie this season so far this season.
  • Sophomore Mia Schoenbeck was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team, announced by the league ahead of the season.
    •  In her debut season, Schoenbeck netted two goals and an assist to finish her freshman campaign with five points. She made 13 starts for the Demon Deacons, appearing in all 17 matches.
    • The Louisville, Kentucky native was one of just two freshmen named to the NFHCA South All-Region Second Team.
    • A member of Team USA at the 2024 Junior Pan American Championships, Schoenbeck helped guide her country to silver at the games, including a goal in the 32nd minute against Canada in the final game of the group stage.
    • Schoenbeck made her mark early on the 2024 season with an assist, finding fellow sophomore Faye Janse for the first goal of the 2024 season for the Deacs and followed it with her first goal against VCU rocketing a penalty corner into the back of the cage.
  • Freshman Lauren Storey is one of 22 student-athletes in the ACC with three goals or more to start the year, having struck three times in the last two matches.
    • App State had no answers for Storey in the second half, as she fired a penalty stroke past the App State keeper in the third quarter to extend the Wake Forest lead. The Auckland, New Zealand native capped the scoring for Wake early in the fourth quarter. Storey sent a laser into the bottom left corner of the cage to make it 3-0 before the half against VCU.
  • Senior Brooke McCusker is one of 18 ACC student-athletes with three or more assists on the season.
    • McCusker got her first of the season at App State last Friday and added a pair against VCU on Sunday to cap a stellar weekend of play.
