Wake Forest Set to Compete in Loaded Baha Mar Championship Field Beginning with No. 15 Texas Tech

The Demon Deacons and Red Raiders will matchup up to begin Baha Mar Championship play on Thursday evening.

NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS - The Wake Forest men's basketball team (3-1, 0-0 ACC) will compete in a pair of games in the Baha Mar Championship, beginning with a contest against No. 15 Texas Tech (3-1, 0-0 Big 12 ) on Thursday evening. Following the matchup with the Red Raiders, the Demon Deacons will face either No. 1 Purdue or Memphis on Friday. 

All games from The Bahamas will air nationally on CBS Sports Network with Thursday's contest against Texas Tech beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 20 – First Round

Last Time Out
On the back of a 61-point second half, the Demon Deacons secured their third home win of the season by defeating UMass Lowell 109-75 on Sunday. 

The Deacs shot 38-of-68 (55.9 percent) from the field against the River Hawks, including going 21-of-37 (56.8 percent) in the second half alone. 

Five Deacs finished the game in double-figures, including senior forward Tre'Von Spillers, who finished the game with a season-high 21 points on an incredibly efficient 8-of-9 from the floor. With his performance, the Charleston, S.C., native became the first Wake Forest player since Dallas Walton and 16th player overall since the 1996-97 season to reach 20 points while shooting 88 percent or better from the field.

Sophomore guard Juke Harris continued his stellar start to the season as he finished the game with 21 points to go along with six rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Harris is now averaging 21.5 points per game while also hauling in seven rebounds a game.

Senior guard Nate Calmese recorded a season-high 15 points while shooting 5-of-6 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range. The Gilbert, Ariz., also added a team-high seven assists, three steals and six rebounds.

Junior forward Omaha Biliew had the best game of his Wake Forest career to date, totaling 13 points and four rebounds while connecting on all four of his field goal attempts. Biliew also added his first three-pointer of the season as he went 3-for-3 from range.

Deacs In The Non-Con 
Wake Forest's 77.1 winning percentage in non-conference play since 2021-22 and the 37 victories in out of conference regular season action during that span are the third-best marks in the ACC.

Early Returns From Juke
Now in his second season with the Demon Deacons, sophomore Juke Harris has already showcased his talents across the board for Wake Forest. 

Through Tuesday's action, Harris is one of only 10 players nationally to currently average more than 21 points and seven rebounds per game. Additionally, at 21.8 points per game, the Salisbury, N.C., native is fifth nationally in points per game by sophomores.

Defending The Three 
After finishing last season with the ACC's top three-point defense, the Demon Deacons have once again made it difficult on opponents from downtown so far this season. So far this season, Wake Forest's four opponents have gone a combined 25-of-108 from behind the three-point arc.

Racking Up The Steals 
Wake Forest's pressure has also resulted in 50 steals through four games, as the Deacs' 12.5 steals per game leads the ACC and ranks top-10 nationally. 

The Deacs have recorded 11 or more steals three times already this season including 16 against American in the opener, second-most in a single game in the Steve Forbes era.

The Matchup With Texas Tech 
Coming off a 28-win campaign in which the program reached the Elite Eight, the Red Raiders are currently 3-1 on the season following a 17-point victory over Milwaukee. 

Texas Tech is led in scoring (24.3 points per game) and rebounding (11.7 rebounds per game) by 2024-25 Big 12 Player of the Year and second-team All-American JT Topin.
