Wake Forest Set for Rematch Versus Duke in Regular-Season Home Finale

The Deacs will host the Blue Devils on Wednesday afternoon in their fifth Big Four showing.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest volleyball (14-15, 8-10 ACC) will make one final appearance inside Varsity arena for the fall 2025 regular season this Wednesday (Nov. 26), bringing in Duke for a second matchup of the year. The contest is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start time and can be viewed on ACC Network Extra.

The Demon Deacons and Blue Devils met earlier this fall in Cameron Indoor Stadium on Sept. 28, as Wake Forest took the road win in four sets.

Wednesday will feature the Deacs' fifth Big Four match of the year.

Fan Information
There will continue to be free admission for general admission seating for all home volleyball single matches. The team plays each home contest in Varsity Arena, located on the third level of Reynolds Gymnasium (21 Wingate Rd, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27109).

For a second straight year, 28 padded floor seats are present inside Varsity Arena for spectator viewing along the sidelines opposite the team benches. Those interested in more information can call the Wake Forest Athletics Ticket Office at (336) 758-3322 ext. 2, open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 21
Wake Forest 3, Virginia Tech 1

Boosted by several strong performances, the Deacs downed Virginia Tech in a 3-1 road victory for a third-straight season win.

Friday saw Wake Forest defeat the Hokies inside Cassell Coliseum for the first time since Nov. 24, 2019.

Patrycja Lagida totaled a third consecutive double-double, finishing with 14 kills and 12 digs. The outside hitter was also impressive in her serving, delivering three service aces for the fifth time this year in a single match.

Emma Farrell recorded a match-high 18 digs – tied for her third-highest mark in conference play this season.

Paige Crawford played a major role in controlling things for the Deacs, leading the team with 17 kills while also adding seven digs. Ryleigh Whitekettle and Sadie Poeck chipped in eight and six kills, respectively.

Rian Baker contributed 21 assists and six digs while Becca Bellows had 15 assists and eight digs.

Sunday, Nov. 23
Virginia 3, Wake Forest 1

Wake Forest finished its two-week road tilt in Charlottesville on Sunday afternoon, visiting the Virginia Cavaliers. The Demon Deacons battled but ultimately fell short in a 3-1 decision to the host.

Paige Crawford led Wake Forest in kills for a third-straight outing while notching her third double-double of the year and second in conference play. The Wimberley, Texas native finished with 14 kills, 13 digs and two blocks. Emma Farrell also recorded her second double-double within ACC play – collecting 19 digs and 11 assists. Crawford's total in digs was her most in a conference match this fall.

Patrycja Lagida produced 12 kills and eight digs. Ryleigh Whitekettle additionally had 12 kills of her own.

Sanaa Williams went 5-for-9 on attacks with zero errors (.556) while posting a match-high six blocks. Kelis Hawkins and Sadie Poeck added four blocks apiece.

Rian Baker finished with 18 assists and nine digs. Becca Bellows chipped in 21 assists and five digs.

Earlier This Fall in Durham
During its first weekend of conference play in late September, Wake Forest defeated the Duke Blue Devils in a 3-1 decision to notch its first victory inside Cameron Indoor Stadium since Oct. 16, 2012. Additionally, head coach Jeff Hulsmeyer picked up his first ACC win as a Demon Deacon.

The Deacs were at their best in protecting the net, finishing with 13 blocks. Sanaa Williams paced the defensive front with eight blocks. Kelis Hawkins and Sadie Poeck added five blocks apiece.

On the hitting end, senior Paige Crawford took over as the match progressed, finishing with a team-high 13 kills. Poeck got off to a strong start, ultimately totaling nine kills, with seven in the first set alone. Hawkins and Ryleigh Whitekettle chipped in eight kills each.

Emma Farrell racked up a match-best 22 digs. Rian Baker and Becca Bellows contributed 23 and 17 assists, respectively.

Scouting the Opposition
Duke is 5-24 overall on the season, having lost its last 12 matches. The Blue Devils are 2-16 in ACC play, with wins over Clemson and NC State. As a team, Duke ranks fourth in the conference in digs-per-set average (14.48). Sophomore libero Mailinh Godschall is third in digs (4.02/set) among all league individuals.
