The Demon Deacons captured Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After a regular season to remember, the Wake Forest field hockey team has been recognized with four of the five yearly ACC awards and five members of the All-Conference teams, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Head coach Jen Averill earned her ninth ACC Coach of the Year honor, also capturing the award in 2022, 2014, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2003, 2002 and 1999.

The ACC Freshman of the Year award is the first for the Deacs since Nicola Pluta in 2016, while the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors are the first for Wake Forest since Anna Kozniuk (Offensive) and Georgia Holland (Defensive) in 2014.
ACC Coach of the Year – Jen Averill
Under Averill's leadership, Wake Forest increased its win total by eight from a season ago, tied for the largest improvement in the nation this fall. She guided the Demon Deacons to a 15-game winning streak–the third longest in program history–and the team's first ACC regular-season title since 2006.

Averill also reached a career milestone earlier this season, earning her 450th career victory in Wake's 9-1 win over UMass Lowell.

During the 2025 campaign, Wake Forest ranks among the nation's top 10 in goals per game, assists per game and scoring margin while defeating six ranked opponents, including three inside the top 10.
ACC Offensive Player of the Year | First Team All-ACC – Mia Schoenbeck | M | Jr.
A dominant force in the attacking circle, Schoenbeck led the ACC and ranks second nationally with 22 goals and 49 points during the regular season.

The LaGrange, Ky., native recorded six multi-goal games, including two hat tricks and a four-goal performance against Cal. Her 22 goals are three more than the next-closest ACC student-athlete.

Schoenbeck's 22 goals rank tied for fifth in program history, and she needs just six more points to move into the top five in a single season.

Additionally, she has tallied seven game-winning goals, the most by a Demon Deacon since Wake Forest Hall of Famer Kelly Dostal had eight during the 2004 national championship season.

Schoenbeck has scored in all but six matches this season, including eight goals over Wake's last five contests.
ACC Defensive Player of the Year | First Team All-ACC – Mia Montag | B | So.
Sophomore standout Mia Montag anchored Wake Forest's defensive unit and attack penalty corner group. Montag has played a key role in the Deacs offensive attack, contributing five goals and 18 assists, the most helpers by a Wake Forest player since 2018.

Her 10 assists in ACC play led the league, with the next-closest student-athlete at six. Montag has added five goals this season to go along with her 18 assists, providing a spark on both ends of the field for Wake Forest, as she ranks tied for eighth in the ACC with 28 points.

Defensively, she helped Wake Forest hold opponents to just 1.5 goals per game during conference play while limiting 13 opponents to a single score or fewer throughout the season.
ACC Freshman of the Year – Reabetswe Phume | B | Fr.
A vital member of Wake Forest's backline, Rea Phume started every match in her debut season, immediately establishing herself as one of the ACC's most reliable defenders. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native showcased exceptional poise and versatility, contributing to one of the league's top defensive units.

Phume anchored a backline that allowed just 1.0 goals per game in the team's seven ACC victories during the 2025 campaign. She was instrumental in marking and shutting down some of the league's most dangerous offensive players, holding a North Carolina offense averaging four goals per game to just one tally and limiting a Syracuse squad averaging over three goals per match to a single score.
First Team All-ACC – Ava Moore | M | Jr.
Junior midfielder Ava Moore earned her first career All-ACC honor after serving as the engine of Wake's transition game. Moore tallied one goal and five assists while being one of three Demon Deacons to start every match this season.

Her consistency in both defensive coverage and offensive buildup has been instrumental in Wake's midfield dominance.
Second Team All-ACC – Lauren Storey | F | So.
Sophomore forward Lauren Storey enjoyed a breakout season as one of the ACC's most potent scorers, ranking second on the team with 14 goals and six assists.

A dynamic finisher around the cage, Storey was a central figure in Wake's nationally ranked offensive attack, recording points in 13 of 15 matches played this season.

She finished the regular season tied for fourth in the ACC with 34 points.
Second Team All-ACC – Ellie Todd | Sr. | GK
Senior goalkeeper Ellie Todd has been a force inside the cage, with her 56 saves ranking second in the ACC.

Todd elevated her play in conference action, averaging 5.25 saves per match, with the next-closest ACC goalkeeper at 4.13.

A two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Week, Todd recorded four shutouts during Wake's 15-game winning streak.

Her 42 saves in ACC play led the conference, while her .792 save percentage ranks third. Defensively, she helped Wake Forest hold opponents to just 1.5 goals per game in league play while limiting 13 opponents to a single goal or fewer this season.
