Wake Forest, West Virginia Meet in Holiday Hoopfest Showdown in Charleston

The Demon Deacons and Mountaineers begin a two-year neutral site series with Saturday’s contest.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Wake Forest men's basketball and West Virginia will begin a two-year neutral site series on Saturday evening, as the Demon Deacons and Mountaineers meet at the Charleston Coliseum.

The meeting between the Demon Deacons and Mountaineers will tip at 6 p.m. and be televised nationally on ESPN. 

Last Time Out
Wake Forest fell to Oklahoma at home in the third-annual ACC/SEC Challenge, 86-68.

Sophomore guard Juke Harris led the Demon Deacons with 22 points and seven rebounds while connecting on a career-high 12-of-15 shots from the free throw line. The Salisbury, N.C., native also added two assists and a steal.

Senior guard Nate Calmese added 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting (45.4 percent), along with a team-high four assists.

In the frontcourt, junior forward Omaha Biliew tallied nine points while going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc and redshirt sophomore Marqus Marion pulled down five rebounds off the bench.

Deacs In The Non-Con 
Wake Forest's 75.5 winning percentage in non-conference play since 2021-22 and the 40 victories in out of conference regular season action during that span are the third-best marks in the ACC.

Wake Forest's active defense has recorded 14 or more steals three times this season including hitting the mark in last Friday's victory over Northeastern. The Deacs are averaging 9.56 steals per game, second-most in the conference.

Sophomore guard Juke Harris' expanded role for the 2025-26 season has led to numerous breakout performances, as the Salisbury, N.C., native Harris is just one of six players nationally averaging 19.5 points and seven rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent or better from the field.

Tapping Into The Depth 
Wake Forest has been able to utilize its depth to its advantage so far this season, as the Demon Deacons rank fourth in the ACC in bench scoring per game.

The Matchup

Offensively, three players are averaging double digits per contest led by Honor Huff's 15.8 points per game.
