Wake Forest Track and Field Gears Up for Three-Meet Weekend

The Demon Deacons are set to compete in two local meets in Winston-Salem, N.C., along with a trip to Blacksburg, Va., for the Doc Hale meet.

Long Jump Royalty
Robbie Grace is in search of her fifth consecutive first-place finish Friday afternoon at the Doc Hale competition. She secured a leap of 6.22 meters in long jump at the Gamecock Challenge in Columbia, S.C., on Feb. 1, matching both her indoor personal best and the Wake Forest all-time record.
Competing alongside Grace is freshman Savannah Simmons, who finished fourth in her last outing with a personal-best jump of 5.81m at the Gamecock Challenge.
Bridget McNally will also take the field, looking to continue her strong form. During her indoor campaign, McNally has earned three top-five finishes and a personal-best jump of 5.85m at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Jan. 17.
On the Hunt
At Doc Hale, Aria Wegh is set to compete in the pentathlon after securing personal bests in both the high jump (1.58m) and the 60-meter hurdles (8.91 seconds) at the Gamecock Challenge.
Joining Wegh is teammate Seren Rodgers, who also earned personal bests across all three events in South Carolina. Wegh competed in the high jump (1.53m), 60H (8.86 seconds), and the 200m (25.93 seconds).
Deacs Lead the Field
On Feb. 7 and 8, Isabella Gera will head to the Camel City Sprints Invitational and the Camel City Distance Classic in Winston-Salem, N.C., competing in women's shot put and weight throw.
Gera continues to impress, having tallied three first-place finishes in shot put and one in weight throw during her indoor season.
In her last appearance, Gera took first place with a distance of 15.04m in shot put and second in weight throw with a mark of 17.30m.
Jacob Goldberg will also see the field this weekend at the Camel City Sprints Invitational in Winston-Salem, having earned second place in weight throw with a throw of 17.33m at the Gamecock Challenge.
This season, Goldberg has garnered two first-place finishes and a personal best of 18.43m in the weight throw.

The Deacs will make another out-of-state trip, traveling to the Darius Dixon Invitational in Lynchburg, Va., and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, both taking place Feb. 14-16.
