Wake Forest Powers Through Day One of ACC Indoor Championships

On Saturday, the men’s squad claimed third place in the distance medley relay, capturing second-team All-ACC honors, while the women broke the program record with a season-best time of 11:06.9.
The men secured third place in the DMR with a time of 9:32.19, earning second-team All-ACC honors. Paul Specht set the tone, completing the 400 meters in 2:54.36. Foster Shelbert followed with a 48.86 split at 800 meters, while Rynard Swanepoel clocked a 1:49.26 for the 1200 meters.
Luke Tewalt anchored the Demon Deacons, securing third place with a 3:59.73 split.
On the women's side, the squad set a new program indoor record with a season-best time of 11:06.9. Charlotte Augenstein (3:21.97), Aria Wegh (55.91), Emma Douglass (2:08.31), and Molly Dreher (4:40.77) raced in the relay to break the program's previous mark.
In the men's 5000 meters, three finished in the top 10. Joe O'Brien led the way with an eighth-place finish, clocking in at 13:41.40. Aidan Ross (13:41.84) and Daniel Winter (13:47.78) finished ninth and 10th, respectively, with Winter also setting a personal-best time.
Brooke Wilson earned All-ACC second team honors after finishing sixth in the women's 5000m with a career-best time of 15:51.99. Angelina Perez added to the Deacs' strong showing, finishing eighth with a time of 15:59.56.
Seren Rodgers had a standout performance in the women's pentathlon, finishing second in the 60m hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.75 seconds, and clearing 1.55 meters in the high jump.
Isabella Gera capped the day with a season-best performance in the women's weight throw, recording a distance of 17.76 meters.
