Wake Forest Tied for Lead in Texas after Two Rounds at Colonial Country Club

The Deacons shot three under par to record the field’s lowest score during round one.
FORT WORTH, Texas - Through two rounds of the Charles Schwab Spring Collegiate in Fort Worth, Texas, No. 9 Wake Forest women's golf sits tied for the lead through 36 holes.
Despite a slow start to the morning, the Demon Deacons entered the back nine of round one with a fury. Through nine holes, they sat T4 in the field but a handful of birdies and clean cards carried Wake Forest into first place before round two.
Junior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen showed consistency all throughout round one, with a bogey-free front nine and recorded three birdies for the day. Although entering the turn two strokes over par, senior Carolina Chacarra carded a clean back slate and three birdies to tie den Dunnen and sit two under par before round two. Both head into the second round with a score of 68 (-2) and T2.
Freshman Chloe Kovelesky also posted a huge second-half effort and recorded a birdie on her final hole of round one, in addition to a trio of birdies and a bogey-free slate after the turn. She finished the first 18 with a score of 69 (-1) and T9.
Sophomore Macy Pate carded three birdies and a score of 72 (+2) to finish her round T20. Graduate Sky Sload completed her first round T70 and 80 (+13).
Wake Forest faced heavy competition from No. 1 Stanford and No. 3 Oregon, but eagles from den Dunnen and Kovelesky and a clean card after the turn for Chacarra kept the Deacons in the lead, tied with Oregon.
Chacarra recorded the highest score of round two for the Deacs with a 69 (-1) to send her into the final round T4. The Madrid, Spain native leads the entire field in par three scoring after day one.
In addition to her eagle on a 495-yard par five, den Dunnen sits T11 and carded an even score during round two. After Wake Forest trailed the Ducks heading into the final three holes of the day, Kovelesky's eagle on a 520-yard par five finalized the Deacs top spot heading into round three. The Florida native is T15 through 36 holes
Pate kept up a consistent game as she stayed inside the top 20 with an even score through both rounds. Graduate Sky Sload recorded two birdies on the back nine to finish her second round three strokes over par.

The third round of three will begin at 9:45 a.m. ET. Wake Forest will be paired with No. 1 Stanford and No. 3 Oregon. Live scoring will be available all day via Scoreboard.
