Opponent History
Wake Forest and Virginia Tech will meet for the 103rd time on Friday night, with the Deacs holding a 56-46 advantage all-time. Wake has won five of six against the Hokies, including a three-game sweep on the road when the two teams last met in 2024.

Strike Early. Strike Often
One of the keys to the Deacs' success over the last three years has been scoring first, as Wake Forest has gone 76-21 in games where they got on the board first since the 2023 season. Under Tom Walter, Wake is 309-124-1 when scoring first, including a 14-3 mark to start the 2025 campaign.

Timely Hitting
The Deacs are hitting .354 with runners on to start the year, a near 70-point rise after hitting .285 during the 2024 season with runners on. Shortstop Marek Houston has played a key role, raising his average with runners on from .330 as a sophomore to .536 so far in his junior campaign. Wake Forest has driven in 94 of their ACC-leading 246 RBIs with two outs, led by 17 two-out RBIs from Houston and 16 from Kade Lewis, and are hitting .331 as a team with two outs on the year.

Bullish Bullpen
The Wake bullpen has been one of the strongest in the country so far, with a 3.67 ERA in 120.0 innings of relief through the first 26 games. The bullpen alone has struck out 173 batters, which outpaces the total strikeouts of 107 other D1 programs, combining both starters and relievers.
