Starting pitcher Chris Levonas turned in his first scoreless outing in ACC play to lead Wake Forest.
STANFORD, Calif. – Behind a strong start from freshman righthander Chris Levonas and timely hitting, the Wake Forest baseball team grabbed a 10-0 victory over Stanford, clinching the road series victory Sunday afternoon at Sunken Diamond in Stanford, Calif.
Shortstop Marek Houston collected his 18th multi-hit game of his junior campaign, as the Demon Deacons (29-16, 12-12 ACC) improved to 15-3 in contests where Houston has two hits or more.
Junior Jack Winnay led the Demon Deacons with three RBIs on Sunday afternoon, including a two-run double in the top of the fourth.
Graduate transfer Matt Scannell concluded a stellar weekend at the plate with a 2-for-4 effort against the Cardinal (21-19, 7-17 ACC). Scannell collected multiple hits in each game of the three-game set, finishing 6-for-14 over the series with four runs scored and an RBI.
Starter Chris Levonas finished the afternoon scoreless in four-plus innings of work. The 2024 second-round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers scattered three hits and just one walk, allowing no runs with three strikeouts on just 73 pitches thrown.
This marked the third time in the last five outings that the freshman righthander has allowed zero runs.
Levonas turned the ball over to lefthander Joe Ariola in the fifth, who got the Demon Deacons out of the inning unscathed on a diving play from center fielder Cam Nelson and a double play stab from Winnay to end the inning.
After 1.2 innings from Ariola, lefthander Zack Johnston and freshman righthander Duncan Marsten combined to record the final four outs of the game.

FROM COACH WALTER
"Great response from the team these past couple of games, especially as you look at yesterday's topsy turvy game, and then responding with a shutout victory today. Chris Levonas set the tone for us today and came out there strong in the first inning. Matt Conte threw a guy out stealing and we got a zero in the first. We came out there in the second inning and we scored four innings in a row to put this game away. The best part about today was that we didn't need to throw [Luke] Schmolke or Griffin Green. Those guys were available today if we needed them, but I didn't really want them to have to pitch, so I'm really glad we had a chance to spread the lead out and be able to keep those guys fresh. We have another big game on Tuesday against App State, who is close to being an NCAA Tournament team. Those games are really important down the stretch, so we have to find a way to play well on Tuesday." - Head Coach Tom Walter
