Wake Forest looks to capture their 12th straight season-opening victory against Houston on Friday.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 21 Wake Forest baseball team travels to Ponce, Puerto Rico to open the 2026 season in the 2nd Annual Puerto Rico Challenge against Houston, Washington and Indiana State this weekend at Estadio Paquito Montaner.
The Demon Deacons look to capture their 12th straight season-opening victory against Houston on Friday. The matchup also marks the first time since 2017 that the Demon Deacons won't open up play at David F. Couch Ballpark.

Off On The Right Foot
Wake Forest has won 11-straight season openers dating back to the 2015 season. The Demon Deacons won at least 11 games to start two of the last four seasons, going 13-0 to start the 2023 season and 11-0 in the 2022 season before losing. The 13-straight to open the 2023 season was the longest win streak for the Deacs since winning 15-straight during the 2012 season and the second-longest winning streak to open the season since the 20-0 start in 1949 that will likely go untouched.

Building on the previously announced 2027 Wake Forest football matchup with Notre Dame inside Bank of America Stadium, Wake Forest Athletics continues to strengthen its regional ties to Charlotte as the Demon Deacons baseball program will head to the Queen City to take on Clemson in a showdown at Truist Field on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

Since 2022, Wake Forest has totaled 172 wins for the most among its Atlantic Coast Conference
counterparts.
