2/12/2026 11:52:00 AM | Men's Tennis
This will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
WACO, Texas – Making its fifth-consecutive appearance at the event, the No. 1-seeded Wake Forest men's tennis team will open the ITA National Team Indoor Championships against UC Santa Barbara inside the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center Friday evening.
First serve against the Gauchos is slated for 7:30 p.m. eastern time. A live stream of the match will be provided via Cracked Racquets, while live results can be found here.
The Demon Deacons (6-1, 0-0 ACC) will look to become just the sixth team in history to win the indoor team title on three occasions following triumphs in 2018 and 2025. The Deacs could also become the eighth team to claim the crown in back-to-back seasons and the second team to do so as a member of the ACC.
Of note, the Demon Deacons are 9-0 in the state of Texas since the start of last season, having won the 2025 ITA and NCAA titles in Dallas and Waco, respectively.
With a win over the Gauchos, Wake Forest will advance to take on the winner of (4) Baylor and (5) UCF on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. for a spot in the semifinals in Dallas. The full bracket and more information can be found here.

Tournament Schedule (All Times Central)
Day One (Feb. 13)
Successful Weekend Overseas
With no team events on the schedule this past weekend, the Demon Deacons still saw tremendous success across the globe as senior DK Suresh Ekambaram single-handedly led his nation to a Davis Cup victory in the first round of qualifiers. Additionally, freshman Mees Rottgering battled his way to two top-200 ATP wins and earned his way to the main draw of the Rotterdam Open.
Hot Start
The Demon Deacons have opened the 2026 campaign with a combined 22-5 record in singles and 12-4 mark in doubles, which has seen them take five of the first seven doubles points this season. Sophomore Joaquin Guilleme leads the team with five singles wins followed by Luca Pow and Mees Rottgering at four apiece. Additionally, 10 different Wake Forest players have already recorded at least one win.
ACC Weekly Honors
Through the first month of the season, the Demon Deacons have already been honored twice with ACC weekly awards.
After the opening weekend, Pow and Rottgering won ACC Doubles Team of the Week following a pair of 6-2 victories. They first defeated Bezzaz/Ruy of Saint Joseph's before following it up with a win over Listo/Luethi of ETSU.
Two weeks later, Rottgeting claimed ACC Freshman of the Week honors with a perfect week that featured three singles victories — all in straight sets — while helping power the Demon Deacons to multiple top-tier wins. His week was highlighted by a 6-3, 7-6(3) ranked win over No. 25 Sebastian Eriksson of Texas that clinched the 4-2 road victory over the No. 4 Longhorns.
ITA Rankings Update
The Demon Deacons were tabbed as the No. 3 team in the nation in the latest ITA poll, and is one of six ACC teams ranked inside the top 25, with the conference holding three of the top four spots. Individually, Wake Forest now has six singles players and one doubles pair ranked.

The Bresky Era
Since arriving at Wake Forest, head coach Tony Bresky has enjoyed a highly-decorated career, winning ITA National Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2025, along with garnering ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2013, 2016 and 2025.
Bresky led Wake Forest to its first-ever national title in 2018, after accumulating a 33-2 mark and most recently led one of the most dominant seasons in collegiate tennis history as the Deacs won 40 matches en route to capturing the ACC regular season title, ITA Indoor Title and NCAA Championship.
Individually, Bresky has coached two ACC Players of the Year (Noah Rubin and Melios Efstathiou), along with 40 All-ACC selections and 12 ITA Singles All-Americans.
During his tenure at Wake Forest, Bresky has amassed 377 wins. Of note, early in 2023 with a victory over No. 6 Tennessee, Bresky became the winningest coach in program history, surpassing the legendary Jim Leighton. Earlier this season against No. 4 Texas, he reached the 400-career win mark.
Wake Forest's Team Success Under Bresky
Bresky's teams have also excelled in the classroom during his stint in Winston-Salem, as he's coached 27 All-ACC Academic Team honorees and an ACC Men's Tennis Scholar Athlete of the Year.
