No. 3 Demon Deacons Set for ACC Opening Weekend

Wake Forest will take on No. 28 Clemson on Friday before a doubleheader against No. 57 Georgia Tech and SC State on Sunday.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After a flawless 13-0 conference campaign a season ago, the No. 3-ranked Wake Forest Men's Tennis team will begin ACC play this weekend with a clash against No. 28 Clemson on Friday followed by a doubleheader against No. 57 Georgia Tech and SC State on Sunday at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
Friday's match against the Tigers is slated for 5 p.m., while the doubleheader against the Yellow Jackets and Bulldogs is scheduled for 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
The Demon Deacons will look to extend their home match winning streak to 39 with victories in all three of this weekend's matches. Since 2013, Wake Forest has the most home wins (232) in the county and the second-most overall wins (368).
Additionally, Wake Forest has won 15-consecutive ACC regular season matches following a flawless run last year and has taken a total of 116 conference victories since the start of the 2013 campaign.

Hot Start
The Demon Deacons have opened the 2026 campaign with a combined 49-12 record in singles and 26-8 mark in doubles. Sophomore Joaquin Guilleme leads the team with 10 singles wins to just one loss, followed by freshman standout Mees Rottgering with a 9-2 record.
Chasing History
DK Suresh and Luca Pow have played a major role in Wake Forest's success over the last three years and have been climbing up the program record books. Suresh is already seventh all time in career doubles wins (89) and Pow is nine away from cracking the top 10 himself.

Last Time Out (vs. Baylor and Coastal Carolina)
Avenging its loss from the ITA indoor championships, the No. 4-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team battled to a 4-2 victory over No. 6 Baylor Sunday afternoon at the Wake Forest Tennis Center. The Demon Deacons followed that up with another 4-0 win against Coastal Carolina to complete a perfect weekend.
The win over Baylor ranked Wake Forest's third top-10 win of the season after previously taking down No. 4 Texas and No. 5 TCU. It has now accumulated 28 top-25 wins since the start of last season.
Once again, the Demon Deacons took the doubles point in both matches and have now started with a 1-0 lead in 11 of their 14 matches this campaign.
The No. 2-ranked pair in the country of senior DK Suresh Ekambaram and redshirt sophomore Andrew Delgado cruised to a 6-4 win over Baylor's van Schalkwyk/Koenig on court one and moved to 4-0 together this spring. With the win, Suresh is now tied for seventh all-time in program history with 88 total doubles victories and is four away from cracking the top five.
The British duo of junior Luca Pow and sophomore Charlie Robertson paired up once again and earned their fourth and fifth wins together this campaign. Of note, Pow is now three doubles wins away from joining Suresh in the top 10 in program history (81).
Cementing himself as one of the top freshmen in the country, Mees Rottgering cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over No. 39 Zsombor Velcz of Baylor on court two before a 6-1, 6-2 win over Coastal Carolina's Christopher Norlin. He is now 9-2 at the collegiate level with three ranked wins to his name. He also partnered with sophomore Conrelius Shalmi and picked up a 6-3 win in doubles to clinch the doubles point against the Chanticleers.
Picking up his fifth win of the season with just one loss, Robertson defeated Baylor's Luc Koenig in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) before Pow clinched the win over the Bears with a comeback victory against No. 73 Alexandru Chirita 6(5)-7, 6-1, 6-2. It marked the first ranked win of the year for Pow, who moved to 7-3 overall this campaign.
Becoming the first Demon Deacon to 10 singles wins, sophomore Joaquin Guilleme is now 19-1 as a Demon Deacon in dual match play as he downed Juan Cruz Collardin (6-3, 6-1) and has been a crucial piece in the Deacs' success so far this season.
Freshman Dominick Mosejczuk continued the perfect start to his career, clinching the second match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Enzo Garutti. He is now 6-0 as a Demon Deacon with three of his wins coming over the last three days.
Of note, Wake Forest freshmen have accounted for 21 singles victories so far this season.

The Demon Deacons were tabbed as the third-best team in the nation in the latest ITA poll after spending most of last season in the top spot, and is one of five ACC teams ranked inside the top 25 to open the outdoor season. Individually, Wake Forest has five singles players and one doubles pair ranked.

Since arriving at Wake Forest, head coach Tony Bresky has enjoyed a highly-decorated career, winning ITA National Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2025, along with garnering ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2013, 2016 and 2025.
Bresky led Wake Forest to its first-ever national title in 2018, after accumulating a 33-2 mark and most recently led one of the most dominant seasons in collegiate tennis history as the Deacs won 40 matches en route to capturing the ACC regular season title, ITA Indoor Title and NCAA Championship.
Individually, Bresky has coached two ACC Players of the Year (Noah Rubin and Melios Efstathiou), along with 40 All-ACC selections and 12 ITA Singles All-Americans.
During his tenure at Wake Forest, Bresky has amassed 380 wins. Of note, early in 2023 with a victory over No. 6 Tennessee, Bresky became the winningest coach in program history, surpassing the legendary Jim Leighton. Most recently against Texas, he reached the 400-career win mark.
