Wake Forest Falls in Series Finale at Miami

The Demon Deacons return to David F. Couch Ballpark on Tuesday as they conclude the season series against No. 11 Coastal Carolina.
MIAMI – The Wake Forest baseball team (24-13, 9-9 ACC) dropped the series finale to Miami (27-9, 8-7 ACC) by a score of 8-0 on Sunday afternoon at Mark Light Field.
Junior second baseman Blake Schaaf logged his seventh double of the season, while right fielder Luke Costello extended his streak of reaching safely to 18 straight games with a single to lead off the seventh inning.
Freshman Ryan Bosch was perfect over 1.1 innings, recording a pair of flyouts, a groundout and a strikeout to lower his season ERA to 3.72. The lefty hasn't allowed a hit in each of his last three appearances on the mound.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FROM COACH WALTER
"We're just putting too much pressure on our pitching right now. We haven't been scoring runs, and everybody feels that. They hit a two-run homer with two outs, and all of a sudden, the dugout gets deflated and our guys feel like they can't come back from that right now. That's disappointing because we have a better offensive team than that. We're obviously in a funk right now and have been for a while now. We need to find a way to get out of it. I probably need to change things up and play different guys. We've got to find a way to start scoring runs, because right now, we're just putting way too much pressure on our pitching. We've got a big game on Tuesday against Coastal, and then obviously a huge series against NC State. It'll be good to be back home after being on the road for two-plus weeks now." - Head Coach Tom Walter
