The Demon Deacons completed the ACC double for the third time.
CARY, N.C. – Championship Sunday delivered once again for the top-seeded and No. 7-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team, as the Demon Deacons edged second-seeded Virginia in a thriller, 4-2, to capture the ACC title at Cary Tennis Park.
With the victory, Wake Forest (30-3) captured its fourth ACC title in program history, all coming under the direction of head coach Tony Bresky, and reached the 30-win mark for the third consecutive season. The milestone further cements the current era as one of the most successful and sustained runs in program history.
This is the 60th ACC Championship in Wake Forest Athletics history and 15th since the 2014-15 school year. Additionally, Bresky joins an elite list of Wake Forest coaches with four-or-more ACC titles to their name.
Just eight days removed from clinching the ACC regular season crown, the Deacs completed the ACC double for the third time in program history (2018, 2019), reaffirming their dominance across the entire season. The title also marked the 13th trophy secured under Bresky's reign.
Wake Forest's Team Success Under Bresky
In a rivalry that has defined ACC men's tennis for nearly two decades, Wake Forest and Virginia once again met with everything on the line. The two programs have combined to capture all but two (2024, 2025) conference titles since 2007.
The championship appearance marked the 11th ACC Tournament final in program history and the eighth under Bresky, highlighting the program's consistency at the highest level. The Demon Deacons have now won four of their last five trips to the title match.
Wake Forest in the ACC Finals Under Bresky
With the victory, Bresky moved into sole possession of fifth place in ACC history for most conference tournament titles by a head coach and now holds the most among all active coaches in the league. His sustained success places him among the conference's all-time greats, alongside some of the most decorated names in ACC tennis history.
The milestone win also marked Bresky's 400th victory at the helm of the Demon Deacons, adding yet another achievement to his already historic tenure.
After sweeping all 13 doubles points during ACC regular season play, and continuing that dominance through both the quarterfinals and semifinals, Wake Forest once again set the tone early in Sunday's final with victories on courts one and two. This extended their remarkable streak to 22 consecutive matches with a 1-0 lead, doing so for the 30th time this season.
The No. 2-ranked duo of redshirt freshman Andrew Delgado and senior DK Suresh Ekambaram continued their dominance with a win over No. 45 Dahlberg/Kim, 6-2, on court one. The pair improved to 12-0 as a pair, including a perfect 5-0 record against ranked opponents, with multiple ranked wins during the tournament.
The victory also moved Suresh closer to the 100-win mark with his 97th career doubles victory, while Delgado remained unbeaten across both singles and doubles this spring.
Career Doubles Wins - Wake Forest History
Freshman Mees Rottgering and sophomore Kacper Szymkowiak also remained perfect as a pair with their third win of the tournament as they downed Godsick/Rivera, 6-4, on court two. The duo improved to 12-0 together, with all 12 wins coming against conference opponents. Their consistency and chemistry has played a major role in helping Wake Forest secure the doubles point throughout the weekend and the season.
The Demon Deacons closed out the title in exciting fashion by taking courts two, three and five.
Setting the tone in singles, No. 29 Luca Pow continued his exceptional run with a fast and dominant win over No. 48 Andres Santamarta Roig, 6-1, 6-0, on court three. The junior improved to 18-3 this spring while securing his third ranked win of the season and the highest of his dual-match career. The victory also marked his 13th straight win and 96th in the Old Gold & Black, extending Wake Forest's streak of dominance on court three dating back to Feb. 22.
The Englishman has been one of the most reliable players in college tennis since he arrived in the fall of 2023, having now surpassed 30-or-more singles wins in each of his three academic years following his 12 this past fall.
After Virginia leveled the match at 2-2 with wins on courts one and six, No. 60 Rottgering rose to the occasion with a clutch statement win over No. 15 Keegan Rice, 6-4, 7-6(4), on court two. The freshman earned the highest-ranked victory of his young career, improving to 14-3 on the season and 6-1 against ranked opponents.
A four-time ACC Freshman of the Week, Rottgering has been nearly unstoppable down the stretch, dropping just one match since Feb. 15 while continuing to shine in his first postseason which led to him winning ACC Tournament MVP.
With the Deacs leading 3-2 and just two matches remaining, freshman Aryan Shah bounced back after dropping the second set and came away with the biggest win of his career as he downed Stiles Brocket, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, on court five and clinched the trophy.
The victory marked his eighth career win as he continues to grow more comfortable in the collegiate game. Shah has stepped up when it has mattered most, providing a key boost to Wake Forest's depth during the tournament run.

From Coach Bresky
"It was a great match. I thought Virginia played very well. It was really high quality tennis throughout the match. We did a really good job in doubles to get up. We knew we needed to come out and be ready to compete, because they would, and we matched that. We played some really good tennis overall this weekend. Winning an ACC title is incredibly hard and we're super proud of that accomplishment and to represent the conference as the champions." – Head coach Tony Bresky
