Mia Schoenbeck Completes Stint with Team USA at 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup

Schoenbeck’s Penalty Goals Give Advantage to the U.S. in Belgium.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest women's hockey senior Mia Schoenbeck has wrapped her time with Team USA and will return to Winston-Salem following standout performances at the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup in Wavre, Belgium.
Schoenbeck made her offensive presence known in the United States' second match of the World Cup against Scotland. After the U.S. scored a quick goal three minutes into the match, Scotland came back to tie it with a penalty corner only ten minutes in. The U.S. responded again with another goal less than halfway through. After USA earned a penalty corner 38 minutes into the competitive match, Schoenbeck delivered a powerful penalty goal to help the stars and stripes gain a two goal advantage. Scotland would respond with one final goal, but Schoenbeck's goal provided her team with some leeway and secured the first win for the U.S.
The United States would go on to draw with Argentina and New Zealand 1-1, and fall to Germany 3-1.
In the second phase of pool play, the No. 10 United States faced off against No. 11 Ireland. Ireland came out striking first with a goal coming just 12 minutes in. The U.S. responded with a field goal just under 25 minutes in. The second half of the match was all USA as Ireland was held scoreless and the U.S. responded with two more. Schoenbeck once again showed her penalty corner strength as she launched in the goal that would give the stars and stripes the lead, and the U.S. secured it with one final goal 51 minutes in.
The United States fell to No. 7 England on Thursday morning to finish in tenth place at the FIH Hockey World Cup.
