Chris Eaton joined the Wake Forest men's tennis staff as an assistant coach during the 2016-17 season before being elevated to associate head coach prior to the 2018-19 season.
In his first six years on staff, Eaton has helped guide the Deacs to the top of the college tennis world, as the Demon Deacons won the National Championship in the 2017-18 season. The title was the fourth team title in the year for the team, as the team also won the ACC Championship, the ACC regular season title and the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
Under Eaton's leadership, Wake Forest nearly repeated their on-court performance a year later. The 2018-19 team finished runner-up at the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship as well as the ITA National Team Indoor Championship. The Deacs repeated as ACC regular season champions and won their second-straight ACC Championship.
Eaton made an immediate impact on the on-court success, helping the team win its first-ever ACC regular season title. The Deacs advanced to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament in 2017 the furthest the team had ever advanced up until that point.
Prior to joining the Deacs, Eaton had a six-year professional career from 2007-12, earning career-high rankings of 317 in singles and 147 in doubles, before joining the coaching ranks.
As a professional player, Eaton played in the main draw at Wimbledon for four straight years, and totaled three singles and 22 doubles titles on tour. The Great Britain native also represented his home country in the 2009 Davis Cup against Ukraine.
Eaton has helped coach Henri Kontinen, John Peers and Jamie Murray. Accomplishments by those three in 2016 included winning the Wimbledon mixed doubles title, runners-up in the Wimbledon and U.S. Open men's doubles finals, and three total tour titles.
