Women's Tennis Cruises Past N.C. State

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team won their first ACC match of the year at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center. The Demon Deacons defeated N.C. State 7-0.
The Deacons took the early doubles point by sweeping all three positions with relative ease. Karin Coetzee and Alex Hirsch teamed up at the number one position to defeat the Wolfpack's Barbara Olay and Elin Stahl Johansson 8-5. At number two, Ashlee Davis and Katie Martzolf defeated Dee Stadelmann and Agustina Arechavaleta 8-0, and finally at the number three spot, Danielle Schwartz and Blakely Offutt defeated Julia Roach and Allison Barry 8-1 to finish off the doubles play.
Wake Forest was perfect in singles as well by taking all six matches. Coetzee won at number one 6-1, 6-3 over N.C. State's Orlay. Davis knocked off Arechevaleta 6-2, 6-0 at the number two spot, while Martzolf defeated Johansson 6-2, 6-0 at the number three spot. Wake Forest took numbers four through six as well with Schwartz defeateing Roach 6-3, 6-1, Loeb beating Stadelmann 6-2, 6-1, and Offut defeating Carmen Torres 6-2, 6-0.
The Demon Deacons return to action on Saturday at noon against Old Dominion.
