She was selected to the Academic All-District Team in 2002 and 2003 and went on to garner Academic All-America honors each of those years. Earlier this season, the Greeley, Colo., native set a new school record and ran the then-fastest time in 2005 in the NCAA in the 10,000 meter race; a performance that earned her ACC and NCAA Performer of the Week honors, as well as an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship. She was named All-ACC in the 5,000 meter and 10,000 meter races, finishing in second and first place, respectively in those events. She set a regional qualifying mark in the 5,000 meter race, placing 20th at the NCAA East Regional.

Sikes earns her first Academic All-District honors in 2005. The sophomore from Lakewood, Ohio ran a regional qualifying time in her first ever 3,000 meter steeplechase. She bettered that time weeks later and then went on finish seventh at the ACC Championship in the event. She regionally qualified for the 5,000 meter race as well. She was the only Deacon female to set two regional qualifying times during the outdoor season. Sikes is majoring in mathematical economics and has a 3.951 GPA.
