Wake Forest Results - UNC | Wake Forest Results - Duke | Men's Recap
CHAPEL HILL AND DURHAM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's track and field team returned to action this weekend for the first time since the ACC Championships two weeks ago, competing in two "last-chance" style meets: the Dick Taylor Tar Heels Relays in Chapel Hill and the Duke Twilight Meet in Durham.
Junior Erin Brooks had a fantastic performance in the triple jump on Sunday, falling just short of the school record mark that she already owns. She placed second overall after jumping a distance of 40-6.75 (12.36m).
The Deacs will return to competition on Tuesday as they host the Deacon Combined Events Classic at Kentner Stadium for heptathlon performers. The seven-event competition is scheduled to begin on Tuesday afternoon before concluding with the final three events on Wednesday.
Following is an event-by-event breakdown of Saturday and Sunday's action from both meets.
Tar Heels Relays - Belk Track at Fetzer Field, Chapel Hill, N.C.
Javelin Throw
Junior Sarah Brobeck had her third-best throw of the season with a mark of 121-7 (37.06m) to grab a third-place finish, her best of the season thus far.
Duke Twilight Meet - Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham, N.C.
400m Hurdles
Freshman Allison Johnson continued her excellent debut season with an eighth-place finish and a time of 1:02.59. She has posted a top-10 finish in each of her six attempts in the event this season.
Triple Jump
Erin Brooks narrowly missed breaking her own school record in the event. Her jump of 40-6.75 (12.36m) to take second place was just one-hundredth of a meter shy of her record jump, set at the Duke Invitational on April 8.
Discus Throw
Junior Carmen Green had a throw of 134-5 (40.97m) to place third overall, matching her second-best finish of the season.
