Bojanowski Leads Deacons in Hokie Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest track and team field traveled to Blacksburg, Va. on Friday to participate in the first day of the Hokie Invitational.
After a successful weekend at the UK Collegiate Invitational, the Demon Deacons were able to keep the success going on the road Friday. Senior Thomas Bojanowski broke the Wake Forest school record for the 1,000m event crossing the line in second place with a time of 2:25.27.
60m Hurdles
Freshman Hunter Roberts placed fourth with a time of 8.71 setting a new personal best.
60m Dash
Myotia Gathings captured a top-ten finish placing in seventh with a time of 7.72.
300m
Mytoia Gathings secured an eighth place finish with a time of 40.58 setting a new personal best and Daniel Harrison placed 10th with a time of 35.02.
1,000m
Natalie Sukramani placed 18th with a time of 3:02.68 and Kendal Knous placed 23rd with a time of 3:07.10. Senior Thomas Bojanowski broke the Wake Forest school record and secured a second place finish for the men with a time of 2:25.27. Junior Kyle Eager crossed the line in ninth place with a time of 2:31.99 and sophomore Alex Krall finished in 23rd with a time of 3:02.31.
1 Mile
Freshman Ellie Abrahamson placed 12th with a time of 5:11.88 and junior William Fayette placed ninth with a time of 4:26.65. Competing for the first time as a Demon Deacon, freshman Sarah Fahmy placed 24th with a time of 10:52.96. Senior Garret Drogosch placed 16th with a time of 8:33.32.
Triple Jump
Senior Phoebe Kershaw placed 18th with a mark of 10.90m and Sophomore William Ray secured a fourth place finish with a mark of 14.27m setting a new personal best record.
Weight Throw
Freshman Casidy Callahan placed seventh with a throw of 16.59m. The three men representing the Demon Deacons all placed in the top ten with Charlie Ionata in sixth (16.51m), Teddy Mottola in eighth (16.16m) and Kyle Johnson in ninth (15.96m).
Wake Forest returns to action on Saturday in the second day of the Hokie Invitational in Rector Field House.
