Deacs Wrap Up Virginia Tech Elite Meet

Blacksburg, Va. - The Wake Forest track and field team wrapped up the second day of the Doc Hale Virginia Tech Elite Meet at Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Va. on Saturday. The Deacs were led by Kaitlyn Oliver who placed third in the 3,000m and Connor Crowley who placed eighth in the 3,000m.
3000m
Junior Kaitlyn Oliver led the Deacs capturing a third place finish with a time of 9:43.50 and freshman Ellie Abrahamason placed 9th with a time of 10.11.32. On the men's side Connor Crowley secured a eighth place finish with a time of 8:30.65 and senior Garret Drogosch placed 11th with a time of 8:38.19.
4x800m Relay
The women's team comprised of Tessa Riley, Natalie Sukramani, Kendal Knous and Kathryn Lazarchick placed fourth with a time of 9.14.96. The men's team comprised of Thomas Bojanowski, Kyle Graves, Kyle Eager and Simon Holden placed third with a time of 7:30.22.
High Jump
Junior Nyki Caldwell placed eighth with a mark of 1.75m and sophomore Michael Rufrano placed sixth with a mark of 1.98m.
Pole Vault
Sophomore Katie Adair placed ninth with a mark of 3.71m and freshman Scott Marshall placed 15th with a mark of 4.78m.
Triple Jump
Junior Montasia Golden placed fifth with a mark of 11.97m and Sophomore William Ray placed tenth with a mark of 13.36m.
Shot Put
Freshman Casidy Callahan placed 15th with a mark of 12.74m, sophomore Steve Michaelsen placed ninth with a mark of 16.39m and sophomore Alex Krall placed 15th with a mark of 11.16m.
Next weekend the Deacs return to race at home in the UCS Invitational at the JDL Fast Track on Feb. 14-15.
