WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest yielded 13 free baserunners, which Elon turned directly into six runs to help defeat the Demon Deacons, 10-3, at Gene Hooks Field at Wake Forest Baseball Park on Wednesday night.

The Deacons (12-6) walked 11 batters, hit another and allowed one more to reach via error, which the Phoenix (8-6) capitalized on to earn the victory.

Coming into the game leading the nation in doubles and home runs, Wake Forest was able to muster just one extra-base hit, a solo homer from Kevin Conway.

Conway reached base four times, finishing 2-for-3 with a pair of walks.

Will Craig pushed his average up to .484 by finishing the day 2-for-3, while Stuart Fairchild knocked in a pair of runs and stole a base.

Wake Forest used eight pitchers on the night. The staff was led by John McCarren, Andrew Culp and Andrew Loepprich, as each worked 2.0 scoreless innings.

Elon was led by Chris King (3-for-5, 2 doubles, 2 RBIs) and Ryan Cooper (2-for-3, 2 walks, 4 RBIs).

Lucas Bakker (2-3) tossed 6.0 innings, allowing three earned runs for Elon to pick up the win. Chris Farish (0-2) started and took the loss for the Deacons.

The Demon Deacons return to ACC play this weekend, traveling to Tallahassee to take on Florida State. Friday and Saturday will feature 6 p.m. games airing on ESPN3, while Sunday's game is slated for 1 p.m.
