Deacons Display Strong Finish at Duke Twilight

DURHAM, N.C. - Several Wake Forest track and field athletes turned in some strong results while competing at the Duke Twilight meet this week.
Leading the way for the Deacons, Ellie Abrahamson ran in the 3000m steeplechase, running a time of 10:41.53 while placing fourth overall. With her time, Abrahamson moved to fourth on the Wake Forest All-Time performance list. Her time was only seven seconds off the current school record time of 10:34.72.
Sarah Fahmy also competed in the 3000m steeplechase and improved her personal best time by 20 seconds to move to sixth on the All-Time Performance list. She ran a time of 10:53.22 and placed sixth overall.
Kathryn Lazarchick also had a strong performance finishing third overall in the 1500m with a time of 4:24.71. Lazarchick continues her impressive season as she now has finished top-3 in every race she has run this season in both the 800m and 1500m events.
In addition, Samantha Jones placed second overall in her 1500m heat, and finished 10th overall with a solid time of 4:33.37. Lara-Ann Schwede placed third in her heat and 14th overall, running a time of 2:11.56 in the 800m.
Next weekend, the Demon Deacons will compete in the 2015 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla.
