Demon Deacons Close Out Weekend Events

Wake Forest men's and women's track and field completed both the Mt. SAC Relays and Campbell Invitational on Saturday. Both the men's and women's squads finished second in the Campbell Invitational, as the women earned 83 points in the meet and the men picked up 79.
On the men's side, the Deacs picked up wins from Alexander Giacco in the 3,000m, Max Adams in the discus throw and Kyle Johnson in the hammer throw. The women's team earned wins by Kendal Knous in the 800m and Beatrice Boylan in the 3,000m steeplechase.
In the 3,000m, Giacco earned a personal-best time of 8:34.95. He was followed closely in the event by Craig Corti, who finished second with a mark of 8:42.41. Johnson's first-place finish also came with a PR of 58.03m in the hammer.
Other personal records on the day for the men's team included John Archie's time of 1:54.81 in the 800m and Jonathan Dixon IV's 16.33-second, fourth-place performance in the 110m hurdles. Peter Millsaps and Kent Garrett finished second and third, respectively, in the 3,000m steeplechase as Millsaps set a new PR of 9:33.53 and Garrett posted a time of 9:41.35.
On the women's side, Knous' time of 2:08.85 earned the win in the 800m and set a new PR for the senior. Isabelle Harouche finished fourth in the event with a time of 2:15.42, which was also a personal best. Boylan's first-place finish was also a personal record for the freshman, who posted a time of 11:17.73.
Other personal records included a 1:07.78, sixth-place mark in the 400m hurdles by Jordan Banks and a 12.51-second run in the 100m by Hunter Roberts.
In the Mt. SAC Relays, Robert Heppenstall finished fifth in the 800m run with a time of 1:47.65 while Simon Holden posted a time of 1:48.67 in the event.
Wake Forest returns to action next weekend with the Virginia Challenge and the Elon Invitational.
